New Facility Update

Harrison Hills City Schools New PK-12
Construction Update

Construction continues to progress at the new PK-12 building for the new Harrison Hills school campus. The 217,000-square foot building, located on an open site just south of Cadiz on Route 9, features two gymnasiums, an auditorium, three classroom wings and centralized shared common areas.

This fall, construction crews have completed a significant amount of site work surrounding the new PK-12 building. The asphalt paving of Liggett Land and Huskies Way, as well as the base asphalt paving on the majority of the building site are complete. All lighting pole bases and electrical conduit have been installed along the roadways. Concrete sidewalks are currently being poured along Liggett Lane and Huskies Way and that work will be completed by mid-December.

The school building is making progress as well, with foundations completed in the main electrical area, kitchen, gymnasiums, locker rooms and administration area. Foundation work will continue in the two-story high school wing in the coming weeks. Masonry crews are currently constructing walls in the gym areas, kitchen and administrative area. The masonry bearing walls will support the future pre-cast structural concrete slabs and the future steel structure in the second story of the administrative area, gymnasium/locker rooms, and the kitchen/student dining area. Looking ahead to the winter months, you will see cranes placing structural steel beams in those select areas. Underground electrical, plumbing and HVAC installation and rough-ins continue as areas of foundation and walls are completed.

It has been a great start to this multi-year construction project that will transform the district to a single campus school. Construction activities are on schedule for a grand opening for the 2019 school year.
