Harrison North Elementary

• Preschoolers at Harrison North enjoyed making a rainbow and a pot of gold with Mrs. V. This week they learned about the colors of the rainbow and about St. Patrick’s Day.

• Harrison North Preschoolers had 2 special visitors that taught us about germs and how to wash our hands correctly. The students put on a special lotion that once rubbed in, allowed us to see their germs when a black light was shined on their hands. They then learned how to properly wash their hands to get the germs off. Students sang the ABC song to make sure they washed their hands long enough. The students were given coloring pages, crayons, and a travel size hand sanitizer!

• Harrison North March staff meeting was held.

• Third grade classrooms have incubators with eggs in them in their classrooms.

• Miss Tipton’s 2nd grade classroom had a guest reader on Friday, March 16, 2017. Kathy Birney from the Scio Branch Puskarich Public Library was our guest. She told the students she has been a librarian for 26 years. Our guest was extra special to one of the students, Nellie Patterson, as this is her grandma. Mrs. Birney talked to the students about library citizenship, and how to get a library card. She shared with them a few pages from her favorite book as a child their age, which was “The Boxcar Children Island Adventure.” She read two stories to them; “Goldie Socks and the Three Libearians,”and “Piney the Goat Nanny.” Mrs. Birney wrapped up her visit with making corner book marks with the children. Everyone had a great time!
