New Facility Update

Harrison Hills City Schools New PK-12
Construction Update

• Completed the high school wing masonry footers.

• Continue underground plumbing rough-in in the high school wing of the building.

• Constructing masonry walls in the varsity gymnasium.

• Began installation of metal roof deck over the kitchen and electrical room areas.

• Layout for foundations in the elementary wing of the building.

District Office

• Mrs. Snider attended Central's musical production of Foot Loose. What a wonderful job the students and staff did on their Friday and Saturday performances.

• A board of education work session was held Friday during the new facility core meeting. Board members and district office staff reviewed flooring, fixture, and wall colors and designs.

• Mrs. Harding worked with the school’s attorney and Cadiz CIC concerning final paperwork needed from the school to assist with the CIC filing paperwork with ODNR for a grant.

• Mrs. Harding, Mrs. Carter and Mrs. Clements have been working with OMERESA to work out small glitches they are finding with the new state software.

• The fiscal department has been trained on the new Edge Software for Purchase Order, Check and Receipt printing. All aspects of the software are working smoothly with both state software programs.

• Mr. Ripley and Mr. Albaugh addressed several building and ground issues.

• Collaboration with Mrs. Mader and Mrs. Ryder on planning at Harrison North cafeteria.

• Mr. Ripley, Ms. Howes and Mrs. Pelegreen visited Indian Creek cafeteria for planning and collaboration with another school that utilized the Nutrition Group.

• Mr. Ripley attended a training for bus stops planning for the up and coming school year.

• Mr. Morgan facilitated the District Leadership Team Meeting, held on March 23, with professional presentation by Mr. Dunlap

• Mr. Morgan, Mr. Ripley, and District personnel met throughout the week

• Mr. Morgan collaborated with faculty regarding license renewal

• Mr. Morgan prepared for the administration of Ohio’s State Tests

• Mr. Morgan collaborated with related service providers and intervention specialists throughout the District

• Mr. Morgan collaborated with personnel regarding student records and enrollment

Harrison Central Jr/Sr High

• Seniors Dylan Guthrie, Taylor Reynolds, Jacob Shoup, and Logan Elliott hosted a 3-on-3 basketball tournament for their senior project. 7 teams attended and $250 was raised for cancer research.

• Logan Elliott, Chance Hursey, Reanne Brooks, Caden Arbaugh, and Gage Rapavi were honored at the end of season baskeball banquet.

• Seniors Cassidy Kuhn and Rachel Klinesmith hosted a dance and Chinese auction for their senior project. They raised $1,764 to go to a cancer team at Cleveland Clinic that works to fight Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

• Thank you to Mr. Lackner's classes for all of your work on the musical set!

• The cast and crew of Footloose wowed the audience with their awesome voices and entertaining dance moves! Good job and thank you!

Harrison East Elementary

• The 4H Extension office recently came to East’s afterschool program, PAWS, and helped the students explore density and its effects in certain solutions.

• Mrs. Carman’s 4th grade students, who met their 3rd 9-week AR goal, were treated to root beer floats.

• Mrs. Burgey’s 3rd grade reading class was treated to a special guest this week. Our own Mr. Dave came and read to a third grade class. Mr. Dave was a big hit as he read a book that was authored and illustrated by Mrs. Burgey’s students. He was featured as the main character in the book. After reading he taught a mini lesson on the constellation The Mini Dipper. The kids loved having him!

Harrison North Elementary

• Preschool students are getting ready for spring by creating spring flowers with Ms. Vancamp.

• Staff had a professional development led by Mr. Saffell over STAR reports.

• Miss Tipton’s 2nd grade had their last DARE lesson with Deputy Tony Sedgmer on Thursday, March 22, 2018.

• Ms. Vancamp’s art classes are making Easter art!

• Miss Tipton’s 2nd grade had a guest reader on Friday, March 23, 2018. Sandy Leggett a former teacher and administrator visited their classroom. She is retired and enjoys spending time with her three grandchildren. She read the story “Pajama Day” to the class and acted out each part as she went along with different props. Some of her props included a robe, slippers, a pillow, a teddy bear, and even a breakfast snack for the children. She also read to them “The Very Bad Bunny.” The children really enjoyed her visit!
