New Facility UpdateHarrison Hills City Schools New PK-12 • Constructing masonry walls in the PE gymnasium, multi-use PE room, and mechanical area. • Continue elementary school wing concrete foundation installation. • Installing remaining underground plumbing in the kitchen. • Building interior masonry walls in the electrical and kitchen areas. • Begin installation of permanent electrical service. District Office• Mrs. Snider met with SHP representatives Dan Roberts and Herb Gardner and reviewed the new facility's progress. • Mrs. Snider attended the National Honor Society induction of 31 new members. Congratulations to past and present inductees. • The superintendent and assistant superintendent attended the Harrison Career Center's Advisory Meeting. • Progress monitoring continues within Ohio’s State Tests, administered throughout the District • Consultation with related service providers within the District • Outreach and further development of curricular materials for District consideration • Collaboration with District staff for visionary future planning • Leadership within conferencing for students with disabilities throughout the District • Mrs. Harding attended the OASBO Annual Workshop. Some of the sessions attended included Public Records Training and Investment Training. • Mrs. Harding co-presented at the annual workshop. The session topic was the implementation of the new state software. • Harrison Central cooks had a PD hour on making our own fresh pizza and stir fry. • Mr. Ripley had a meeting with Ms. Howes and Mrs. Pelegreen to review cafeteria budget. • Collaborative planning with Emergency Management for an April 27th meeting. |

Harrison Central Jr/Sr High• Rebekah Hobbs completed her senior project by giving old photographs back to the community. • Seniors completed another project by hosting a 5k to benefit the American Diabetes Association. • Thank you to the Harrison Central Alumni Association for helping sponsor our HOBY Leadership Seminar! • Mrs. Davidson’s 8th graders did a fun Amazing Race Challenge for test prep. • National Honor Society inductions for junior high and high school were on Friday. Harrison North Elementary• April showers bring May flowers! • Preschoolers at Harrison North learned about Earth Day this week. To help take care of our Earth, students brought in items to recycle. We also planted flowers while learning about the plant life cycle. • Mr. Saffell reviewed safety procedures with the staff. • Students in Ms. Vancamp’s 2nd grade art classes used oil pastels to create beautiful sunflowers. Harrison East Elementary• Second grade students in Mrs. J. Starr’s group earned a slime party for meeting their Dolch Sight Word goals for word recognition. • Mrs. Dana helped Mrs. Noble’s 1st grade students practice their spelling words with shaving crème. It was messy and fun learning experience! • Mrs. Watson surprised all the 3rd grade students by making them each goodies bags for state testing. The students loved the generous treats while they were tackling the testing. • Career Day 2018 for 1st grade was a huge success thanks to the many parents who came and spoke to the students. Our own Ms. Birney, Chase Smith, Bobby Coffman, Mandy Cook, Darin Johnson and Mark Smith all came and spoke to the 1st grade and shared the joys of their career choice. • Mrs. Van Camp’s kindergarten through 6th grade art students helped make a bottle cap mural bringing attention to Autism Awareness Month that is currently on display on the lawn of the Harrison County courthouse. Special thanks to Cadiz’s Orme Hardware for donation supplies and to the Harrison County Commissioners for permitting the display. • Miss Bethel held her annual Math Madness recently and this year’s winner was Lyla Dalton.
