Harrison East Elementary

• Third grade students learned about various economic concepts, then put that knowledge to use. They crated businesses, selling goods or services, used a business loan to purchase materials and rent a shop space. They made products to sell to fellow classmates. Each group also had to use a budget to keep track of their money. Highly successful businesses included stress ball, duct tape pencil holders, necklaces, book/poster store, and a “gaming” store. The students enjoyed being producers and consumers and gained a little more knowledge on owning a business.

• March Students of the Month were recognized this week. Students were selected by their grade level teams and were chosen on various characteristics such as honesty, good citizenship, respectfulness, responsibility, and overall readiness to learn. Preschool was Gracie Best; kindergarten, Declan Richards (absent from photos); 1st grade, Daylee Walters; 2nd grade, Colston Kirkpatrick; 3rd grade, Carson McCartney; 4th grade Amelia Puskarich; 5th grade Kimber Rogers; and 6th grade, Markus Hilbert.

• The Harrison East family came together to surprise and celebrate a new member on his way. Miss Ashley Jacobsen was surprised with a baby shower to welcome her new little boy due in April.
