New Facility Update

Harrison Hills City Schools New PK-12
Construction Update

• Framing, windows and doors are now installed in part of main street

• Drywall finishing is being completed as crews make their way through the first floor of the elementary school

• Security Cameras are being installed in the high school section of the building

• Masonry block work is nearly completed through the auditorium/music/art rooms

• Nearly all Jr. High and HS classrooms now have whiteboards installed

• Mr. Ripley gave a tour of the new facility

• Finishing drywall and painting in the first floor elementary school wing

• Finishing drywall in the second floor of the elementary wing

• Installation of casework at the high school wing first and second floors

• Installation of marker and tack boards

• Installing technology cabling in the elementary school wing

• Buildout of technology closets

• HVAC piping, plumbing rough-in, and electrical rough-in at the elementary school wing

• Hanging drywall in the second floor of the elementary school wing

• Installing exterior metal panels and trim at the high school and elementary wings

• Metal stud framing at the auditorium and arts area of the building

• Electrical, HVAC, and plumbing installations at the auditorium area of the building

• Installing masonry brick veneer and cmu block in the music and arts area of the building

• Interior glass and glazing

• Installing exterior glass and glazing at the main street location

• Installing hollow metal and wood doors and hardware

• Installed concrete frost slabs

• Installing site storm piping and structures

District Office

• Mrs. Snider met with SST staff concerning submittal of a grant.

• Mrs. Snider spoke with a family about donations for the new facility.

• Mr. Morgan was invited and spoke with the Cadiz Civic Women’s Club relative to changes and the new school campus for 2019-2020.

• Mr. Morgan met with community stakeholders in collaboration for projects related to the new school campus.

• Mr. Morgan led curricular review collaborative sessions with faculty, in review for alignment with the 2019-2020 academic year.

• Mr. Morgan led special education conference reviews throughout the week, both inside and outside of the District.

• Mr. Morgan continues collaboration regarding state testing with administrators and teachers.

• Ongoing collaboration by Mr. Morgan regarding the legacy wall content development continues

• Mrs. Harding has advertised seeking bids for an auctioneer. Bids must be received by April 29.

• Mrs. Harding is working with staff to gather information needed for filing of the catastrophic report for special education.

• Mrs. Harding has been in communication with Hammond Construction and OFCC concerning the building project.

• Drug testing and physical dates set up for bus drivers for the next school year.

• Transportation form data is now being entered to get a closer estimate of the number of riders on buses for next year.

Harrison Central Jr/Sr High

• Evan Stine represented Harrison Central in the District 5 All Star Game! Kobe Mitchell received his award for being named 1st team All District and Gavin Muckle for 2nd team All District Coaches Association.

• Mr. Gossett’s STEM classes have been working in the shop to build catapults!

• April is Autism Awareness Month and Harrison East students and staff wear blue to help promote awareness.

• Katie Cumings pictured below sharing Autism Awareness facts during morning announcements.

• Second graders are learning 3 dimensional shapes.

• Fourth grade students honed their engineering skills by creating communities and placing the building, parks, and homes where they should go.

• Fourth grade Genius Hour spent some time this week presenting to the 3rd grade classes.

• Congratulations to East’s own Amanda Sliva, pictured center, as she was awarded a Best Practices grant at Franciscan University.

Harrison North Elementary

• A student keyboarding in Ms. Benzo’s computer class.

• Kindness Matters was the door decorating theme at Harrison North! Thank you to those classrooms that participated, they looked awesome! Mrs. Carpenter’s class had the winning door!

• Miss Tipton’s 2nd grade had a classroom guest on Thursday. Mr. Jim Rocchi joined the 2nd grade class. Mr. Rocchi is a former teacher and administrator. He presented a lesson to the students on plane shapes and 3-D shapes as well as patterns. Then students created shapes using marshmallows and tooth picks. They loved the lesson!

• Students in Mrs. Turner's first grade made homemade bread after reading "Tippy Toe, Chick Go!" and "The Little Red Hen" in Reading class this week. The students then wrote in their journals describing the bread.
