Harrison North Elementary

• Miss Tipton’s 2nd grade welcomed guest reader, Patti Sabo on Monday, April 8th. Patti talked to the students about the beach and what to take when they visit the beach. In her beach bag she brought with her sunglasses, a beach towel, a hat, and sunscreen. She read three books to the students: “Hello Lighthouse” by Sophia Blackall, “Whales Passing” by Eve Bunting, and “Lightship” by Brian Floca. Students were left with baggies of goldfish and real sea shells from Mrs. Sabo. Students loved her visit! A fun fact is that Brian Floca’s great aunt used to live in Jewett, Ohio before her passing.

• Mrs. Rocchi’s 6th graders were given an Easter Treat at the Scio Library. After they checked out books, they took advantage of the weather and read outside.

• Last week preschool students studied the letter U and had a winter party with fake snow.

• Students from grades Kindergarten thru 6th have been working on a community service project for our veterans. Students were given a lesson on safety when it comes to operating power tools...they were excited 2 wear safety goggles and operate a power drill. When the project is complete, we would like to display it in the front lawn of the courthouse.

• This week preschool students studied the letter X this week, had fun in art, and got caterpillars.

• Miss Tipton’s 2nd grade enjoyed a familiar face on Friday, April 12th. Charlotte Sayre, former preschool teacher for Harrison Hills visited Miss Tipton’s classroom. She read four books to the students, all pig themed. She read: “Ping Pong Pig” by Carolyn Church, “Otis” by Janie Bynum, “Rosy Posie Is Not Dirty” by Virgine Hanna, and “That’s What Friends Are For.” After she read the books, students went back to their seats to complete an addition fact paper where once they answered the problems, they colored it according to the chart and it was a pig in mud. Students enjoyed her visit!
