District Office

• Mrs. Snider and Mr. Parker attended the Volley Ball awards banquet. Congratulations to the seniors on their successes. 

• Mrs. Snider met with Harrison Community Hospital to finalize the plans to have a doctor or physician’s assistant to provide services in the school one day each week. 

• Special education meetings were held within the District

• Testing scheduling for 2019-2020 was reviewed and established for Harrison Central

• Mrs. Harding and Mrs. Carter attended State Software training with the focus on creation of reports.

• Mrs. Harding attended “Trunk or Treat” and there was a great community turn out for a very well-organized event… Thank you HC Cheerleaders!

• Mrs. Harding was at the very well attended Steak Dinner sponsored by the Softball and Baseball teams. Great food and fun for all.

• Industrial Appraisals was in and tagged all equipment according to board policy. The updated inventory file will be forthcoming.

Harrison Central Jr/Sr High

• Mr. Parker was part of an interview committee at the Ohio State Extension Office in Harrison County this past week. 

• Mr. Hlivko, Ms. Zanath, Ms. Roski, Mr. Dunlap, and Mr. Parker attended the District Leadership Team meeting.

• The varsity and junior varsity volleyball banquet was held on Sunday, October 27. 

• Senior football players and coaches attended the V.A.L.E.S. Conference 

• FFA students attended the National Convention held in Indianapolis. 

• Golfers, Sam Santille and Cruz Capers received 2nd Team Eastern District and Nick Coffland received Honorable Mention Eastern District

• Golfer, Nick Coffland received Academic All-Ohio 

• Senior football players were recognized and provided speeches to the students during their senior assembly. 

• The V.A.L.E.S. Trophy will remain at Central!!!

• Trunk or Treat was held at the school for community members!!!

• Thank you to the Cheerleaders for organizing Trunk or Treat!!!

Harrison Central Elementary

• October’s Students of the Month are from preschool, Xavier Freeman; kindergarten Kinsey Hayes; 1st grade Emery Cogar; 2nd grade, Cecelia Gibson; 3rd grade Bristol Moore; 4th grade, Carson McCartney; 5th grade, Avery Patterson; and 6th grade, Emma Patterson!

• Mrs. Gaffney’s class wrote letters to Dr. Stinky and gave recommendations for stinky stickers he could create. Dr. Stinky wrote back thanking them for their suggestions and sent a stack of stinky stickers for us to enjoy.

• To kick off Red Ribbon Week, DARE Office Tony speaks to grades 3- 6 about the origins of RRW and why we celebrate it every year. 

• Students from Mrs. Gaffney’s class that met their AR goal for the first grading period. Second grade will celebrate with a movie in the high school auditorium! They also have been busy making Thank You cards for our veterans!

• An old, long-standing tradition of a costume parade – its just been update!

• Congratulations to Julia Carman, 4th grade; Heather Soos, 1st grade; and LeAnn Van Camp, elementary art on winning the Educational Service Center’s Best Practice Grant. Amber Yorko from the Jefferson County ESC was at October’s Board of Education meeting to award the grants. 

• Parties, parties, parties!!!

• In the spirit of ghosts and ghouls, fourth grade students watched a Mystery Doug video about bones. After learning about the importance of our bones and that there are over 200 bones in our bodies, we made our own skeleton hands. Check out the neat pictures below, resembling x-rays.
