Harrison East Elementary

Harrison East welcomed the Mobile Dentist program to our school. Thirty-five students were able to get their teeth cleaned, sealed, or just general check-ups.

Logan DeWees, 2nd grade, reached 125 AR points this week and Eva Richards proudly shares her 25 points.

Harrison East celebrated the birthday of Dr. Seuss this week by hosting our last Family Literacy Night.  Almost 250 students and parents came to ready, do crafts, get their faces painted, and, of course, to read with the staff.  The following students even won door prizes: Callie Culbertson, Tomi Jo Edwards, and Landon Coffman were kindergarten prize winners; Lynden Myers, Hannah Viers, and Josie Corder, 1st grade; Olin Wade, Hunter Snyder, Grayson Elliott, and Saige Anthony were 3rd grade winners; Mikayla Pelegreen and Allessa Dorn 4th grade winners; Logan Milliken and Kaleb Coffman were 5th grade winners; and 6th grade winners were Brodie Yeager, Kylie Richards, and Paige Fitzgerald.

Harrison Central Head Football coach, Anthony Hayes, and a group of his players came to visit kindergarten and 1st grade.  The football players took the time to not only read with the little ones, but they also spent time chatting with the kids and even shared some of their equipment!

The best way to end the month of February is to recognize our Students of the Month.  This month’s students, who were selected based on overall good character both in and outside the classroom, were 6th grader, Kylie Richards; 5th grader Jaiden Pelegreen; 4th grader Chase Pettay; 3rd grader Makya Nelson; 2nd grader Ella Smith; 1st grader Josie Corder; kindergarten Jacob Willis; and preschool Ryker Woodward.
