Huskies Talk Issue 19

Congratulations to our regional Spelling Bee participants. The “bee” was held on zoom with each school organizing all of their spellers. The district hope would be to have the regional spelling bee in Harrison Central’s auditorium next year. Thank you to Tammi Starr, Misty McConnaughy, Ken Parker, and Todd Dunlap for all of your assistance in making the zoom “bee” a success.

Mrs. Snider attended the Family Children First Council zoom meeting on Tuesday and the Cadiz Business Association meeting on Wednesday.

Mrs. Harding, Ms. Thompson and Mr. Saffell dealt with water usage issues. Working with the Village, they were resolved.

State Auditor contacted the Treasurer in regards to the Family and Children First Audit. The audit is complete and will go to the state for final review.

Mrs. Snider, Mr. Morgan and Mrs. Harding met to discuss the next round of funding for ESSERS money.

Mrs. Harding had two zoom meetings. One with local treasurers about current fiscal issues and the other with ODE concerning Catastrophic Cost Reimbursement.

Kicking It with Kindergarten

Last week Miss Johnson’s class made a gumball craft while learning about their letter of the week- G.

Students in Miss Johnson’s class also enjoyed welcoming their new “reading buddies” into the classroom. These adorable penguin pals were given to our class by the Puskarich Library and will serve as “listening ears” as our students practice reading.

Pictured is Delia Brock with her new Reading Buddy and the decodable reader for the week!

Fun in First

In honor of Dr. Seuss’ birthday, Ms. Coffman’s class listened to The Cat in the Hat and made Cat and Thing Headbands.

Soaring in Second

Declan Richards and Chase Campbell have moved on up to the 50 Point Club for AR. Declan enjoys reading Dogman and Chase gets a kick out of the Bad Guys series. Vanessa Cottrell has worked hard this year and joined the 25 Point Club. Vanessa is really enjoying Ricky Ricotta’s Mighty Robot vs. the Jurassic Jackrabbits from Jupiter.

Fantastic in Fifth

After reading paired texts "Dr. King is My Grandpa and Kids Changing the World", fifth grade students completed a google slides assignment where they identified an issue within their community and came up with questions for State Representative Don Jones on how they could make a positive improvement or change regarding their issues. Representative Jones spoke with each homeroom and addressed their issues, gave them advice on how they could make a change, and most importantly on how the change starts with them right now being responsible fifth graders. Thank you, Representative Jones, for taking time out of your schedule to speak with us.
