Mrs. Snider and Mrs. Harding attended the OMERESA Board of Directors’ zoom meeting.

The Harrison Hills Board of Education meeting was held and the Scio Sportsman Club presented on having a Student Skeet Shooting Team. 

Parent collaboration regarding academic progress

Meetings were held within special education

Mrs. Harding responded to public records and auditor of state requests for information.

Mrs. Harding reviewed investments and cash flow with Meeder Investments.

Fiscal office did a review and update of all state and federal grants to make sure spending timeframes were going to be met.

Academic Challenge Finishes Season

Boys’ Basketball Sectional Game

On Tuesday, February 23, the boys’ varsity basketball team competed against the Buckeye Trail Warriors in a D3 Sectional Semifinal competition at home. The boys led by 16 points at the half and finished with a win, with the final score of 68-33.

V.A.L.E.S. Flags

In honor of the 10th anniversary of the V.A.L.E.S. football game, Mr. Noble’s shop class made flags for the VFW and American Legions within the Harrison Central and Buckeye Local school districts.

Boys’ Basketball in Cleveland

The boys’ basketball team attended the Cavs game on Wednesday, February 24th. Everyone had an enjoyable time, thank you to the coaches for taking them!

Capital Health Care Network "Rock Star" Teacher

"Mr. Lackner has embraced the new possibilities available within our new facility and has worked hard to teach artistic concepts that were not possible before. Students at all artistic ability levels enjoy the projects and lessons that Mr. Lackner develops. From painting and drawing to pottery and sculpture, Mr. Lackner is helping to provide our students with a high quality visual arts education that gets more and more creative every day. Mr. Lackner is for sure deserving of the title of "Rock Star" teacher. Congratulations."

Boys Basketball Team

The Huskies fell to Ridgewood in the Sectional Finals. The Boys’ Basketball Team finished the season at 14-10.

Kicking It with Kindergarten

Miss Tipton’s kindergarten celebrated the 100th day of school this week. Students received awards, pencils, bracelets, tattoos and stickers. They made a 100 piece caterpillar and did many other activities based on 100.

Fun in First

First grade completed guided drawings of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln with Ms. VanCamp. They were also learning which coin and dollar bill each president is printed on.

On Thursday, Mrs. Turner’s class celebrated the 100th day of school. Students made gumball machines with 100 gumballs, created posters of 100 things, made necklaces with 100 beads, built towers with 100 cups, and many more fun learning opportunities throughout the day. We practiced counting to 100 by 1’s, 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s. The students are 100 days smarter.

Miss Jacobsen’s class celebrated Valentine’s Day this week and the 100th day of school.

Miss Jacobsen’s class read Frog & Toad & The Garden this week. Students made a frog. Then they did a writing activity where they compared and contrasted things about the frog and toad from the story.

Soaring in Second

Second graders at Harrison Central Elementary enjoyed a visit from high school athletes. The high school athletes read aloud to the students the book titled “The Hog Mollies and the Dream Discovery Day” provided by the Second and Seven Foundation. The Second and Seven Foundation out of Columbus, Ohio was founded by Luke Fickell, Ryan Miller, and Mike Vrabel. The mission of the 2nd and 7 Foundation is to promote reading by providing free books and positive role models to kids in need while encouraging young athletes of the community to pay it forward. The 2nd graders enjoyed the visit from the athletes. 

Steven Renner has earned 25 AR points for the school year! His favorite book is Zeke and Zack.

Fabulous in Fourth

As part of their Fossil Unit, students enjoyed making mold and cast fossil in Science class.
