Kicking It with KindergartenMiss Tipton’s kindergarten celebrated the 100th day of school this week. Students received awards, pencils, bracelets, tattoos and stickers. They made a 100 piece caterpillar and did many other activities based on 100. Fun in FirstFirst grade completed guided drawings of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln with Ms. VanCamp. They were also learning which coin and dollar bill each president is printed on. On Thursday, Mrs. Turner’s class celebrated the 100th day of school. Students made gumball machines with 100 gumballs, created posters of 100 things, made necklaces with 100 beads, built towers with 100 cups, and many more fun learning opportunities throughout the day. We practiced counting to 100 by 1’s, 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s. The students are 100 days smarter. Miss Jacobsen’s class celebrated Valentine’s Day this week and the 100th day of school. Miss Jacobsen’s class read Frog & Toad & The Garden this week. Students made a frog. Then they did a writing activity where they compared and contrasted things about the frog and toad from the story. Soaring in SecondSecond graders at Harrison Central Elementary enjoyed a visit from high school athletes. The high school athletes read aloud to the students the book titled “The Hog Mollies and the Dream Discovery Day” provided by the Second and Seven Foundation. The Second and Seven Foundation out of Columbus, Ohio was founded by Luke Fickell, Ryan Miller, and Mike Vrabel. The mission of the 2nd and 7 Foundation is to promote reading by providing free books and positive role models to kids in need while encouraging young athletes of the community to pay it forward. The 2nd graders enjoyed the visit from the athletes. Steven Renner has earned 25 AR points for the school year! His favorite book is Zeke and Zack. Fabulous in FourthAs part of their Fossil Unit, students enjoyed making mold and cast fossil in Science class.
