Huskies Talk Issue 21

Harrison Central Softball, Baseball, and Track Teams were off to a great beginning last Saturday. Best wishes for continued success!

Tusky Valley Administrators toured Harrison Central last week. This group was very complimentary about our school and the friendliest of our students and staff.

Board of Education meetings were held March 23rd. and March 25th. One topic the board discussed was the leasing and possible purchase of Mazeroski Field.

The Sub-Lease agreement with the Booster Association for the Mazeroski Field was finalized

Mrs. Harding submitted to the ODE the 2022 indirect cost report.

Hammond Construction and Mrs. Harding working to get final invoices processed through OFCC (OAKS system).

 

 

FFA Competition

On March 13 Harrison Central's FFA was represented by Caleb Miller, Heath Clay, Wyatt Wilson and Cael Jones at a livestock judging contest in Circleville, Ohio. They had to evaluate and place eight different classes of livestock including cattle, sheep, goats and hogs. They placed 34th out of 65 teams and Heath Clay placed 19th overall as an individual. Congratulations!

Mrs. Wood’s Class

On Wednesday, March 24, Mrs. Wood’s French classes hosted an authentic French Apéro. The students had the opportunity to try various French cheeses, bread, and beverages.

Tory Thompson Signs to Bowl at KST

On Tuesday, March 23rd, Tory Thompson signed to Kent State Tuscarawas to continue her academic and athletic career. Congrats Tory!

On Thursday, March 25, 8th grade math students got into the Easter spirit while working on graphing linear equations.

Alex Barcroft 30 ACT

Alex Barcroft scored a 30 on her ACT. She will be recognized by the Jefferson County Educational Service Center for her prestigious accomplishment. Congratulations Alex!

Geometry students worked on an enrichment puzzle to practice for a test.

Division III Academic All-Ohio

Congratulations to Audrey Corder for being named Division III Academic All-Ohio for girls’ basketball! Out of all Division III girls’ players, she was one of the ten that were selected for the honor. In addition, she becomes the second girl in Harrison Central history to receive this award.

BHCC Field Trip

Freshmen and sophomore students, who chose to, attended field trips to the Belmont Career Center on Monday, March 22 and the Harrison Career Center on Tuesday March 23. Students enjoyed learning about the academic opportunities available to them at these locations.

District 5 All-Star Game

Britton Positano and Kobe Mitchell represented Harrison Central in the District 5 All-Star game at Indian Valley on Thursday, March 25. Britton received Honorable Mention and Kobe received First Team and Player of the Year honors. Congratulations!

Girls’ Track Finishes 2nd

The girls’ track team placed 2nd at the Steubenville Early Bird Meet on Saturday, March 27. Congratulations!

Soaring in Second

Jett Triplett made it to the 75 AR point club! He is loving the new Dog Man book “Mothering Heights”. He has read it twice now! Alexis Forero joined the 50 AR point club. Her favorite Bad Guys character is Piranha! Ay Carumba!

Mrs. Gaffney’s students are studiously researching animal facts for their first informative paragraph. Students chose to research either sloths, hedgehogs, alligators, or boa constrictors. We learned a lot of interesting facts!

Students in Miss Tipton's second grade were rewarded with a frisbee if they met or exceeded their 3rd nine weeks AR goal. Fourteen out of sixteen students met their goal. Congratulations and keep reading!

Landon Coffman, Axel Baker, and Alyvia Bryant each received 100% on their Unit 4 Vocabulary Tests.

Everli Sall, Alyvia Bryant, Landon Coffman, and Brodie Sweeney all got 100% on their Unit 4 Spelling tests.

Congratulations to Wyatt Zeroski who reached 100 points or more in the AR.
