• Mrs. Snider spoke at a Franciscan University graduate education class about Harrison Central’s instruction, procedures and the new facility.

• Administration attended the CORE meeting about the final items needed to finish the school.

• Multiple reviews within special education occurred both in and out of the district

• Onsite professional development were secured for new curricular products.

• Gifted assessments were secured for administration this fall.

• Concrete work around the Field House is nearing completion.

• Footer was poured for the construction of the new Harrison Central sign. 

• Roofing will begin on the Field House.

• Abatement work is complete at East Elementary.

• Abatement work continues at the High School.

• Abatement work is starting at North Elementary.

• Mrs. Harding submitted the 5 Year Forecast to the state and uploaded it to the district webpage.

• The CAFS program has an independent audit done yearly. Upon completion, Mrs. Harding loaded the report and submitted to Medicaid.

• Mrs. Carter has been working with Mrs. Harding and Mr. Saffell to assist in terminating utilities as the demolition process necessitates.

Harrison Central Jr/Sr High

• Eric Leech and Alexis Flor participated in the East District Soccer Senior Showcase 

• Agent Hundley, from the State Enforcement Agency, spoke with students about making good decisions. 

• Mrs. Madzia, the 8th grade math & algebra 1 teacher, is the Jr./Sr. High School teacher of the month. 

• 8th grade science is working on lab safety.

• Students designed lab safety posters and participated in a lab safety escape!!

• 16 families attended the second FAFSA Night and completed their FAFSAs with the help of College Financial Aid Offices from the area. A special thank you to Ohio University, Franciscan University, and Belmont College for their help this year!

• 40 Juniors and Seniors attended the Kent State University-Tuscarawas Campus Honors Symposium. Students heard lectures from multiple professors, attended a campus tour, and were able to participate in hands on labs for nursing, engineering, veterinary technology, and performance arts.

• Faculty complimented how polite and well-behaved Harrison Central's students were, saying they were "a breath of fresh air!". Way to go Huskies!

• Mrs. Arbaugh's reading classes had a word count competition. The 9th period class won by reading over 2 million words. They celebrated with a cookie cake and a free period.

• Kaily Banal is the student of the month for 7th grade for the month of October.

• Students participated in the Americanism and Government test through the Scio American Legion. Thank you to Mr. Zantene and Mr. Bower for administration of the test.

Harrison Central Elementary

• We have positively outstanding students and staff!

• 4th graders used the design process to construct a hovercraft.

• 4th grade October Stem Projects This month the students used a cardboard paper towel roll to create a Stem project. We had kaleidoscopes, binoculars, a football stadium and much more! The 4th grade team is so proud of the students! 

• Third Grader, Jax Triplett, shows his panda habitat after completing a 21st Century Enrichment assignment. Also pictured Third Grader, Zane Shaw, shows his shark habitat he created after completing an assignment.

• 5th graders reviewing vocabulary playing Quizlet Live Relay.

• The third grade STEM group's weekly challenge was to build a "natural" dam that would hold back the most water in a given time frame. Third grade is also learning about energy and its many forms. Students are exploring sound energy. 

• Mrs. Starr's 21st Century Enrichment students have been studying a Bloom's unit on styles or art, artists, and materials used in art. They had to apply the knowledge they have learned in order to create an original painting inspired by the style of their favorite artist. Then they had to name their piece of artwork.

• Third Graders made Mr. Latitude and Mrs. Longitude characters to help solidify some mapping concepts!

• Second grade students who met their AR goal for the first 9-weeks enjoyed a movie in the Harrison Central Performing Arts Center.
