PPE Restocked

Harrison Central received additional masks and plastic gloves from the Ohio Health Department. 

Baseball Field Update

The architecture firm Thrasher Group held a meeting with district administration, the coach, and all contractors pertaining to the construction of the Mazeroski Baseball Field. 

State Testing

State testing in Grade 3 is underway within English Language Arts

Senior Mock Interviews

Mrs. Snider, Mr. Morgan, Mr. Dunlap, Mrs. Kenny, Officer Smith, and Recruiter Sergeant Delbrugge attended Senior Mock Interviews. Thank you to Ms. McIntosh and Mrs. Hawthorne for organizing this worthwhile event. 

Treasurer's Updates

All bids were accepted for items at Westgate Elementary. November 3rd is when pick up of items is scheduled. 

The five year forecast has been submitted to ODE.

Mrs. Harding participated in a zoom meeting concerning SERS contributions and clarification for who is considered a member

Board of Education Meeting

The October Board of Education meeting was held Thursday October 28th. Mr. Dunlap presented to the board about the Teacher Based Teams and Mr. Morgan spoke about state testing. Mrs. Harding discussed the district budgets and notes that our cafeteria is showing an increase in lunches served. Mrs. Snider noted that the choir and band concerts were excellent and well attended. 

 

 

V.A.L.E.S. Game

On October 22, the Harrison Central varsity football team traveled to Buckeye Local for the V.A.L.E.S. game. Unfortunately, the Huskies lost 25-0. This was their last regular season game. The Huskies finished the regular season with a record of 4-6.

Harrison Central Varsity Football Team played Kirtland Saturday during a Regional Playoff Game.

Harrison Central Marching Band played at halftime during the Kirkland-Harrison game.

Cross Country Districts

On Saturday, October 23, the cross country team ran in the districts at Cambridge. The top three girls that placed were: Maddy Edwards with a time of 23:57, in 54th place, Gretchin Dulkoski with a time of 24:43, in 70th place, and Danielle Drapp with a time of 28:53, in 109th place. The top three boys that placed include: Brent Malcomb with a time of 19:50, in 68th place, Aiden Hays with a time of 20:14, in 75th place, and Avery Wallace with a time of 20:24, in 84th place. Congratulations to the cross country team, as this concludes their season.

Physical Science Hocus Pocus Lab

Students in physical science classes completed Hocus Pocus labs for Halloween, to make observations and see chemical reactions. They experimented with witches' blood, liquified zombie brains, frankenworms, growing a ghost, and bubbling cauldrons. They used dried spider legs, dragons drool, troll ear wax, giant sweat, dissolved eyeballs, witches tears, invisibility serum, ground bones and toad slime to complete the experiments.

Boys’ Soccer Finishes Season at Dover

On Saturday, October 23, the boys’ soccer team traveled to Dover for their second sectional game, after winning their semi-sectional game. Unfortunately, they lost 8-0. Goalie Jaydis Yoho had 19 saves for the night. They ended their season with the record of 6-9-1.

Red Ribbon Week

During the week of October 25-October 29, Red Ribbon Week was held for the Huskies! Monday was pajama day, Tuesday was crazy glasses and socks, Wednesday was crazy hair or hat day, Thursday was tie dye day, and Friday was costume day. There were so many crazy and cute outfits throughout this week. Thank you to everyone who participated!

Scholars Algebra 2 Graphs Jack O’ Lanterns

Mrs. Pelegreen’s Scholars Algebra 2 class conducted a fall-themed project. The students used piecewise functions to graph their jack o’ lanterns.

Academic Challenge

On Monday, the 25th of October, the Academic Challenge team hosted their first competition of the season. They competed against Carrollton and won 2-1. Congratulations to the team on beginning the season with a win.

Trunk or Treat

On Thursday, October 28, the Harrison Central Cheerleaders held their annual Trunk or Treat at the Stephenson Center. There were multiple trunks decorated with many different decorations. It was an overall success with many children in many unique costumes. Thank you to everyone who participated in the event!

Senior Mock Interviews

On Thursday, October 28, the senior service learning class conducted mock interviews. The seniors completed resumes and cover letters in class, which were used during their interviews. Each student interviewed with two people, who asked them questions related to the jobs they indicated on their resume and cover letter. Great job to the seniors who successfully completed their interviews!

Miss Emily Dodds visited and presented a 4-week Aiming High program to third graders. They learned about friendship, ways to communicate beyond speaking, ways to deal with stress, and why it is important to say no to drugs.
