Huskies Talk Issue 5

   

Homecoming Football Game

   
 

 
   

On Friday, October 11, the Huskies went against Waterford, which was also our homecoming game. Our homecoming king was Anthony Pelegreen, and the homecoming queen was Avri Puskarich. Unfortunately, the Huskies lost 42-7. The Huskies touchdown of the game was scored by Jacob Quito with extra point by Noah Thaxton.

Cross Country OVCCL Meet

   
 

 
   

On Saturday, October 12, the cross country team had their OVCCL meet. For junior high, Brody McCabe placed 7th and Avalyn Sall placed 27th. The high school finishers were; Tyler Garbrant in 27th place and Lillian Renner in 70th place.

Boys’ Soccer Falls to St. Clairsville

   
   
   

On Monday, October 14, the boys’ soccer team hosted the Saint Clairsville Red Devils. The boys were defeated with a final score of 2-1.

Volleyball Sectional Game

   
 

 
   

On Tuesday, October 15, the Huskies hosted Carrollton for the first round of the sectional tournament. The Huskies fell short to Carrollton in five sets, with scores of 20-25, 19-25, 26-24, 28-26, and 9-15. Lauren Doane had 13 kills during the game. This brought the volleyball season to an end.

Girls’ Soccer Sectional

   
 

 
   

On Wednesday, October 16, the girls’ soccer team traveled to West Holmes to play in the sectional tournament. The score was 7-0 in the first half of the game, and unfortunately the second half ended short due to a mercy rule of 8-0. This finishes the girls’ soccer season.

Cross Country Home Meet

   
 

 
    The cross country team hosted Weir, Brooke, Steubenville, and East Liverpool on Wednesday, October 16. In the high school races, Tyler Garbrandt finished 3rd for the boys and Lillian Renner finished 6th for the girls. For the junior high races, Brody McCabe finished in 1st place, while Avalyn Sall finished in 3rd place.
 
   
   

Student Council Blood Drive

   
 

 
    The student council held their annual blood drive on Wednesday, October 16. We were able to collect 10 blood donations, which will be used to sustain or save up to 30 patients in need. The next blood drive will be Friday, March 21 from 8:45am - 12:00pm.    
   

WVU Harrison Community Field Trip

   
 

 
    Junior and senior students went on a field trip to WVU Harrison Community Hospital. Some students attended Wednesday, October 16, where they explored careers in the non-clinical field. They had the opportunity to experience hands-on activities in several departments including; marketing, dietary, maintenance, housekeeping, and biomed repair. On Thursday, October 17, a group of junior and senior students attended a hands-on clinical day to explore various professions in the hospital such as, radiology, pharmacy, emergency room, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, family medicine, and many other departments.

On Thursday, October 17, the boys’ soccer team hosted East Liverpool to begin the sectional tournament. Unfortunately, the boys fell with a final score of 1-0.

    Mrs. Noble celebrated and awarded Alexis Prekup and Jole Manbeck for their positive contributions and outstanding behaviors in the classroom!    
 

 
   

Spooky Season!

   
    Mrs. McAfee’s class read “The Legend of Spookley the Square Pumpkin” and took an AR quiz on it. Afterwards they all made silly pumpkins! So fun and creative!    
 

 
    Mrs. McAfee’s class read “There was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Ghost” and took an AR quiz on the story. Afterwards they made another craft to go with their story, this time they made ghosts!    
 

 
   

Pumpkin Patch Fun!

   
    Kindergarten went on a field trip to Janoski’s Farm to grab some pumpkins and have some fun!    
 

 
   

Preschool Pumpkins!

   
    Preschool took a fun field trip to Hozak Farms to enjoy the fall day and pick out some pretty pumpkins!
