Huskies Fall To Union Local Jets

On Friday, September 9, Harrison Central traveled to Union Local. The final score was 45 to 14. Hayden Cassidy threw two touchdown passes to Tre Rex. Mykel Quito had 7 carries. This makes their overall record for the season 3-1.

Girls Soccer Defeats John Marshall

On Saturday, September 10, the Girls’ Soccer team played the John Marshall Monarchs at Wagner Field. The final score was 6-0. Vanessa Dowdle, goalie, had her first shut out of the season by not letting a goal in. Angi Ferri had her 4th hat trick of the season plus another goal. Alina Williams and Collette Downs also scored one goal.

Varsity Volleyball Falls to St. Clairsville

On September 10, the Harrison Central girls’ volleyball team played against St. Clairsville. Unfortunately varsity lost in three into five sets. The Junior Varsity team won against them in two sets.

Junior Varsity Football Falls To Union Local

On Saturday, September 10, the Junior Varsity Football team hosted the Union Local Jets and lost 28-18. Jacob Quito had four catches for 56 yards and one touchdown, Brady Hyre had 2 rushes for 18 yards and one touchdown, and Chaz Culbertson had a 75 yard punt return touchdown. The Junior Varsity team plays East Liverpool at home next week.

Girls Volleyball Falls to Martins Ferry

On Monday, September 10, both the junior varsity and varsity teams were defeated by Martins Ferry Riders. Junior varsity lost in three sets, and varsity were defeated in four. Maddy Butler had a total of 27 digs, Nessa Culver had 16 digs, Trista Thompson, Nadia Tweedy, and Danica Rensi all had 7 kills throughout the night, along with Julia Doty who had 19 assists.

Girls’ Soccer Defeats Madonna

On Monday, September 12, 2022, the Girls’ Soccer team played at home against Weirton Madonna. The final score was 8-0. Lily Gibbons had her first hat trick of the season, Angi Ferri had 2 goals, Lexi Smith, Alina Williams, and Collette Downs all chipped in with one goal. Katherine Shearer and Vanessa Dowdle only had 7 shots taken on them combined.

Junior High Volleyball Splits With Martins Ferry

On Monday, September 12, Junior High Volleyball played Martins Ferry. The seventh grade team ended up beating Ferry 2-0. Unfortunately, despite their best efforts, the eighth grade team fell to Ferry 2-0.

Junior High Huskies Roll Through Big Red

On Tuesday, September 13, the Junior High Volleyball team played at home against Bellaire. The 7th grade team won 2 sets to 0, and improved to 9-2 on their terrific season. The 8th grade team also won 2 sets to 0. They improved to 6-5 on the season.

Huskies Volleyball Falls to Steubenville Big Red

Wednesday, September 14, Steubenville Big Red traveled to Harrison Central for a volleyball match. Unfortunately, both varsity and junior varsity teams lost their matches; varsity in three sets, and junior varsity in two. The team had 26 kills and 40 digs.

Golf Finishes Top 3 at OVAC’s

On Tuesday, September 13, the golf team competed in the 4A OVAC Championship at Oglebay in Wheeling, WV. They finished in 3rd place with a score of 368, allowing them to place top three, leaving East Liverpool in fourth with a close score of 369.

Boys Soccer Falls To East Liverpool

On Tuesday, September 13, the boys’ varsity soccer team traveled to East Liverpool. In the first half the score was 3-0, and by the second half they ended with a final score of 5-0. Even though 5 went in, Jaydis Yoho, goalie, had 9 saves.

Golf Defeats Buckeye Local y 2 Shots at Becwood

On Wednesday, September 14, the golf team won with a team score of 171. Roberts medaled with a score of 40. Heath Clay shot a 42, Kaily Banal shot a 43, and Ocean Rogers shot a 46.

Girls’ Volleyball Falls to Indian Creek

On Thursday, September 15, the girls’ volleyball team fell to the Indian Creek Indians. Both junior varsity and varsity were defeated. Junior varsity lost in three sets, winning the first set and losing the last two. Varsity lost in three sets.

Harrison Central is a Purple Star School

Pictured is active duty soldier James Lucas, a senior at Harrison Central, who has completed basic training in the Army, and retired Army veteran, Mark Smith, who served during 9/11.

Physical Science Classes Perform Spaghetti Lab

On Monday, September 12, Mrs. Macenczak’s Physical Science classes performed a science lab with spaghetti. Students had to place spaghetti noodles between two stacks of books, and take a cup and hang it on the noodles and fill the cup up with rocks until the noodles break. They repeated this a couple of times and had to increase the number of noodles used. Each class was divided into teams. Each team had to graph the data that they collected and solve for slope.

Golf Travels to Woodview

On Thursday, September 15, the golf team traveled to Woodview, West Virginia. Kaily Banal shot 44, Ocean Rogers shot a 47, Heath Clay shot a 48, and Nash Roberts shot a 49. As a team they shot a 188 beating Oak Glenn.

Puskarich Public Library Visits Third Grade

Miss Karli Ray visited the third grade to share all that the Puskarich Public Library has to offer its community members. She spoke to the students about how being a good citizen and making good choices applies to all visitors of the library.

 

Second Graders Study Space

Students in Mrs. Turner's Second grade are making learning come to life with classroom transformations and activities. After learning all about space, students made themselves into astronauts.

Students in Mrs. Turner's second grade studied "Henry and Mudge and the Starry Night" this week. After learning all about story elements, students enjoyed making smores. After the treat, they wrote a how to showing the process.
