Huskies Talk Issue 28

Thank You!

From the administrative and fiscal staffs, we thank you all for your dedication and hard work over the 2021-2022 school year. Enjoy your well deserved break and we look forward to seeing you in August!

 

 

Varsity Track at Barnesville

On Saturday, May 14, the varsity boys’ and girls´ track teams traveled to Barnesville High School and competed against 10 other teams. The girls’ field event placers were: high jump, Danica Rensi 1st, Carys Haney 5th in shot and Grace Goudy 3rd in long jump. Placers for the girls’ running were: Grace Goudy 1st place in 100 meter hurdles, Nadia Tweedy 1st in the 400 meter dash and Kendal Hercules 4th. The 4x400 meter relay, Kendal Hercules, Danica Rensi, Kenzie Harbold and Nadia Tweedy got 3rd place, the 4x200 relay team, Nahia Ruiz de Alda, Grace Goudy, Danica Rensi and Nadia Tweedy 4th, and the shuttle-hurdle relay consisting of Julena Kovacik, Nahia Ruiz de Alda, Katherine Shearer and Grace Goudy placed placed 4th. As for the boys’ field events, Brent Malcom got 4th place in long jump, Hunter Boals got 3rd in shot put, Taylor Cope placed 3rd in discus and Grayden Sproull 5th. The boys’ running team placers were: Hunter Bittinger 3rd in the 800 meter, the 4x800 3rd, and the 4x400 relay team 4th, both relay teams composed by Sean Forrester, Colton Howell, Charles Garbrandt and Hunter Bittinger.

Softball Falls in District Semi-Final

On Tuesday, May 17, the softball team traveled to Conotton Valley to compete in the District Semi-Final against Tusky Valley. The Huskies left the bases loaded in the bottom of the first inning, but both teams put runs on the scoreboard in the third inning. Unfortunately, the Huskies left with a score of 3-2, Tusky Valley. Congratulations to the girls on a successful season!

Baseball Sectional Play

The varsity baseball team began their sectional play on Monday, May 16, hosting West Muskingum. The boys ended the night with a 6-4 victory, sending them to the Sectional Championship on Thursday, May 19, where they hosted Sandy Valley. The boys finished the night, winning the school’s 6th Sectional Championship, with a 7-2 victory over the Cardinals. Congratulations to the boys on this accomplishment and good luck in the District Semi-Final!

Track Districts

On Thursday, May 19, qualifying members of the varsity track teams competed in the Districts at West Holmes. For the girls’ team, the qualifiers are as follows: in the 400 meter dash, Nadia Tweedy, in the 4x200, Nahia Ruiz, Grace Goudy, Danica Rensi, and Nadia Tweedy, and for the 100 meter hurdles, Grace Goudy. For the boys’ team, the qualifiers are as follows: in discus Grayden Sproull. On Saturday, May 21, the 800, 1600, 3200, discus, shot put and all the finalists from the District meet will be back at West Holmes for finals. Congratulations to all the athletes who made it to finals!

Theater Department

Members of the Harrison Central Theater Department went to watch a Broadway performance of Wicked in Columbus at the Ohio Theater this week. They want to sincerely thank the community members who saw their shows and supported them so they could take students to have this amazing experience!

Reading Buddies

Mrs. Rocchi’s Kindergarten students made new 5th grade friends when they partnered up with a reading buddy. The fifth graders listened and helped the kindergarten students read and take Accelerated Reader quizzes.

5th Grade Students Visit Wonderland

After reading Alice in Wonderland the students made Cheshire cats and learned to play croquet.

RGR Presentation

Ms. Ferrell and Ms. Sedgmer presented befits the LPDC commitment in the May meeting. They discussed our implementation of Really Great Reading.
