Huskies Host Beavers for Homecoming
Friday, September 30, the Huskies hosted Beaver Local for their homecoming game. Before the game, the male class attendants and king candidates were introduced, where Taylor Cope was crowned the 2022 homecoming king. At halftime, the female class attendants and queen candidates were introduced, when Gracie Rogers was crowned the 2022 homecoming queen. As for the game, the Huskies unfortunately fell to the Beavers with a final score of 65-7. Thank you to everyone who helped make the homecoming game and festivities a success. - Kimberly Eikleberry Cross Country Runs at Cambridge
On Saturday, October 1, the cross country team ran in the Cambridge Invitational. For the boys, Sean Forrester’s time was 19:34.08, for 37th place, Aiden Hays’ time was 2:46.64, for 63rd place, Charles Garbrandt’s time was 20:55.86, for 67th place, and Bryce Wallace’s time was 22:24.83, for 90th place. As for the girls, Maddy Edwards’ time was 22:55.91, earning 23rd place, Gretchen Dulkoski’s time was 22:55.91, for 52nd place, and Jewelene Cunningham’s time was 28:09.31, for 69th place. - Kaleb Bethel Junior Varsity Football Falls To Beaver Local
On Saturday, October 1, the junior varsity football team played at Beaver Local and lost 48-14. Brady Hyre threw for 137 yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions, along with 18 rushing yards. Jacob Quito had 75 receiving yards, with one receiving touchdown. Chaz Culbertson had 52 receiving yards, with one receiving touchdown. On Monday, October 3, the girls’ soccer team hosted the Carrollton Warriors. Before the game, the Huskies recognized their six seniors: Maddy Bender, Collette Downs, Hayden Elliott, Gracie Rogers, Lexi Smith, and Alina Williams. Unfortunately though, the Huskies fell to the Warriors with a final score of 6-0. - Maddy Bender Girls’ Volleyball Hosts Pink Out Game
OOn Monday, October 3, the girls’ volleyball team hosted their Volley for a Cure match at home against Steubenville Catholic Central. Proceeds raised from the match were donated to the Harrison County Cancer Crusaders. The junior varsity team won their match 2-1. The varsity team also won their match 3-0. Maddy Butler led the team with 34 digs, as well as Danica Rensi with 24 digs. Olivia Tonkivich had 35 assists throughout the game. - Leah Cottrell Junior High Volleyball Falls to Shamrocks
On Monday, October 3, the junior high volleyball team played their Pink Out game against the Barnesville Shamrocks. Unfortunately, both the 7th and 8th grade teams fell short, but great efforts were shown. The 7th grade team lost in three sets, while the 8th grade lost in two. Although both teams came out with a loss, the game was a great way to raise awareness and support for cancer. - Sophie Bland Boys’ Soccer Suffers Loss to Tusky Valley
On Wednesday, October 5, the boys’ soccer team hosted Tusky Valley, falling with a final score of 4-1. Lunis Hildebrant scored the lone goal, while Lorenzo Chiarpotto received the assist. Jaydis Yoho recorded 14 saves for the night. - Cooper Thompson Junior High Football Falls to the Jets
On Wednesday, October 5, the junior high football team hosted the Union Local Jets. Unfortunately, the Huskies fell with a final score of 56-6. Turner Synder scored the lone touchdown of the evening. - Khylii Keffer Junior High Volleyball Topples Over St. Clairsville
On Wednesday, October 5, the junior high volleyball team traveled to St. Clairsville to face the Red Devils. It was a good day for the Huskies, as both 7th and 8th grade teams rallied to defeat the Red Devils, two sets to zero. - Servacio Lopez Volleyball Falls to Purple Riders
On Thursday, October 6, the varsity and junior varsity volleyball teams traveled to Martins Ferry. The varsity team unfortunately lost in three; 25-23, 18, 18. The Huskies led by Maddy Butler, with 25 digs and Olivia Tonkovich, with 25 assists. AnnMarie Corder recorded 9 kills, Nessa Culver had 7 digs, Nadia Tweedy had 6 kills, and Danica Rensi had 5 kills and 5 digs. The junior varsity fell 2-0. - Zoe Whipkey Girls’ Soccer Ties Indian Creek
On Thursday, October 6, the girls’ soccer team hosted Indian Creek. The game ended in a tie, with a score of 3-3. The Huskies had the advantage at halftime as they were up 2-1, however, both teams received opportunities to make penalty kicks after being fouled out in the box, putting the Huskies up once again, 3-2. Unfortunately, the Redskins got themselves an indirect kick, leading to the tying score. - Lexi Smith Boys’ Soccer Defeats Sandy Valley
On Thursday, October 6, the boys’ soccer team hosted Sandy Valley, winning with a final score of 5-1. Kaden Dunkle led the Huskies with two goals, while Jace Madzia, Lunis Hildebrandt, and Lorenzo Chiarpotto all recorded one goal. - Julian Reese Positive Behavior AwardsCongratulations to the following students for being awarded for their positive behavior: Lance Rupp for engagement in learning, Logan Johnson for kindness, and Mikayla Pelegreen for responsibility.
