French Field Trip
On Thursday, March 24, Mrs. Wood took her French classes II and III to visit Paris 66 bistro in Pittsburgh. Students enjoyed an authentic French meal along with the proprietor of the restaurant who was born and raised in Paris. Everyone had an enjoyable time and the weather was perfect. They even got to experience some of Pittsburgh’s interesting characters as we walked along the streets.

Varsity Track Competes in First Meet
On Saturday, March 26, thirteen schools joined our Harrison Central Varsity Track team at the Steubenville Early Bird Invitational. Beginning at 9:30am, all field events occurred, resulting in Grayden Sproull getting third place in discus and Hunter Boals placing fifth in shotput. As for the girls, Danica Rensi placed second in high jump. Later on, at 10:00am, all running events had taken place. Throughout this time, Julena Kovacik placed fourth in the 100 hurdles, Gretchin Dulkoski placed fourth in the 3200-meter race, and Nadia Tweedy placed third in the 400-meter run. The girls also won fourth place in the 4x400 and fifth place in the 4x800. Overall, both the boys and girls teams did an amazing job at their first track meet, even in the freezing weather.

District 5 All-Star Game
On Sunday, March 27, Harrison Central hosted the boys’ and girls’ District 5 All-Star Games. We had one player on each team for boys and girls. McKayla Dunkle played in the Girls’ All-Star Game, where she was named the East MVP, and Jonathan Vermillion played in the Boys’ All-Star Game. Congratulations to both athletes on a successful career!

Junior High Track Competes in First Meet
On Saturday, March 26, the junior high track team competed in the Bellaire Invite, which was held at Shadyside. Everyone did well overall, considering the weather conditions and it being the first meet of the year. The boys team did exceptionally well, as they came home with 1st Place, congratulations!

Softball Falls to Garaway
On Thursday, March 29, the softball team played at home against Garaway. Unfortunately, the game ended with a score of 5-0, Garaway.

Boys’ Varsity Baseball Conquers Shenandoah
On Tuesday, March 29, the varsity baseball team played a double header on the newly renovated Mazeroski Field. In the first game against Shenandoah, the final score was 8-0 with the Huskies taking the win. The second game, the Huskies took another win with the score being 10-4. An opening ceremony for the new field was held before the game.

Girls’ Varsity Softball Defeats Buckeye Local
On Wednesday, March 30, the varsity softball team traveled to Buckeye Local. The Huskies took home a win with a final score of 10-1. Congratulations girls!

Junior Varsity Baseball Falls to Edison
On Wednesday, March 30, the junior varsity baseball team played Edison, at home, for their first game of the season. They unfortunately fell to the Wildcats, 13-3.

Softball Defeats Buckeye Trail
On Thursday, March 31, both the varsity and junior varsity softball teams hosted Buckeye Trail. The varsity team started really strong with 5 runs in the first inning. They continued to have multiple hits. Tristen Kovarik’s pitching was phenomenal. The team had bases loaded twice but got the 3rd out and held Buckeye Trial from scoring any runs. Sarah Touville, Olivia Tonkovich, and Jenna Young had 2 double plays throughout the game. Overall, it was a great game and ended with the final score 8-0, Huskies. The junior varsity unfortunately lost with a final score of 14-8.

Junior High Track Hosts Meet
On Wednesday, March 30, the junior high track team hosted a quad against St. Clairsville, Martins Ferry, and Claymont. The first home meet of the season was a hit, bringing in a huge crowd! All of the Huskies athletes achieved their personal best at the home meet. The boys team won the quad by 12.5 points. Although the girls came up short in the meet, they all did well, with achieving their personal best.

Junior Varsity Baseball Ties with Barnesville
On Thursday, March 31, Harrison Central Junior Varsity baseball played at home against Barnesville. Due to the time, the game ended in a tie of 10-10. Both teams played a good game.

Hibbs Receives Athletic Director Award
Congratulations to Mr. Raymond Hibbs on receiving the 2022 Eastern Ohio Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association Distinguished Service Award! This award is given to an Athletic Director based on years of service, special accomplishments, and contributions to their school, the East District and to the state associations. Congratulations again Mr. Hibbs, thanks for all of your hard work.
