OSBA Star Award
Congratulations to Board of Education member Debbie Kenny on being awarded the OSBA STAR AWARD on March 22, 2022 at the Southeast Region Spring Conference. This award is presented to Mrs. Kenny for her years of service, training, aptitude, and recognition. Board members D.J. Watson and Tracy Mattern along with Mrs. Snider, Mrs. Harding, and Mr. Kenny attended this recognition event.
Mrs. Snider attended Mrs. Wood’s French class’s dinner in Pittsburgh. French cuisine and French conversation was offered throughout the entire dinner. This was a nice experience for all!
As we are ending the 1st quarter of 2022, the fiscal office is already preparing for the end of the fiscal year close out. Budgets and contracts are being reviewed and preparation for the revised forecast is being done.
The inventory system is now ready to convert to the new state software. Mrs. Thompson has been working with OMERESA to complete this process.
Beauty and the Beast
On Thursday, March 17, the cast and crew performed two shows for the elementary school and on Friday, March 18, they performed two shows for the junior high and high school. On that night, they performed their first show for the public. On Saturday, they had two shows, one at 2pm and one at 7pm. They finished the night by recognizing the seniors for their last time performing in a musical for the school. On Sunday, they performed their last show, at 2pm. Great job to everyone performing, but a special congratulations to the seniors: Devan Woods, Mack Marshall, Abigail Creamer, Kasey Novak, Matthew Smith, Katie Scott, Michaela Palmer, Emberlynn Snider, and Austin Marker!

French Field Trip
French classes II and III visited Paris 66 bistro in Pittsburgh this past Thursday. Students enjoyed an authentic French meal along with the proprietor of the restaurant who was born and raised in Paris. Everyone had an enjoyable time and the weather was perfect. We even got to experience some of Pittsburgh’s interesting characters as we walked along the streets.
Girls’ Basketball Banquet
On Sunday, March 20, the girls’ basketball team held their banquet for the 2021-2022 season. McKayla Dunkle lettered for her fourth year and the following girls were three year lettermen: Kenzie Harbold, Maddy Butler, and Emma Fischer. Angi Ferri also lettered for her first year. Congratulations to McKayla Dunkle for receiving numerous awards throughout her career!

Students’ Artwork on Display at Statehouse
As part of a month-long celebration of the arts, the Ohio Statehouse will be hosting an exhibition featuring 40 artists from Ohio’s public schools in grades K-12. Harrison Central is proud to have two of our very own students’ work on display. Sixth grader, Olivia Dulkoski, and sophomore, Gracie Smith, are being recognized for their incredible talent. You can see Olivia’s portrait of Michael Jackson and Gracie’s drawing of three burning candles below. Their artwork will be on display at the Statehouse in Columbus April 4-27.
Studying Symbols and Landmarks
Third graders researched National Symbols & Landmarks, completed trioramas, and made a clay visual of their symbol/landmark.
Pictured below are the remaining third graders who met their AR goal during the third nine weeks.
AR Achievers Recognized in 4th Grade
Achievers of the 3rd quarter AR goals were rewarded with a spring flower seed planting party. Students had to achieve a comprehension percent of 85% AND attain their points. Congratulations to the 25 fourth graders who succeeded. Students also got to add chicks and bunnies to the Friendship Flower Garden Club. Lastly, they weeded the beds and gave the perennials a haircut to allow for growth and flowers to come.
