| Boys’ Basketball Defeats RedskinsOn Friday, February 10, the boys’ basketball team hosted the Indian Creek Redskins. The junior varsity unfortunately lost 63-27, but the varsity was victorious with a final score of 63-38. - Zoe Whipkey Huskies Fall to the JetsOn Tuesday, February 14, the boys’ basketball team played home against the Union Local Jets. Junior varsity fell with a score of 51-43, and varsity as well with a score of 64-52. Although the Huskies fell short by the end of the fourth quarter, they played a great game. - Lexi Smith Girls’ Sectional BowlingOn Tuesday, February 14, the girls’ bowling team participated in the Sectional bowling tournament. The girls placed 12th out of 24 teams. Congratulations to TyLynn Smith who bowled a 472 and placed 6th individually, which advances her to Districts. Other individual scores include: Angel Utter bowled a 460, placing 9th, Cami Basich bowled a 410, Erica Emhoff bowled a 383, Grace Cain bowled a 203, along with Hayley Willis who was pulled up from the JV team and did a great job! - Maddy Bender Boys’ Sectional Bowling TournamentOn Wednesday, February 15, the boys’ varsity bowling team participated in the Sectional Bowling Tournament at Boulevard Lanes. They qualified for the District Tournament, placing 6th overall by 8 pins! Kobie Hennis rolled a 623 series, John Gray rolled a 541, Chad Viers rolled a 523, Sean Drapp rolled a 463, and Drew Culbertson rolled a 355. Congratulations boys! - Kendra DeWees Girls’ Sectional Basketball vs. PhiloOn Wednesday, February 15, the girls’ basketball team hosted Philo in the first round of the Sectional Tournament. Unfortunately, the Huskies finished their season after falling with a final score of 44-31. - Kaleb Bethel Wrestling Takes the Sweep at Union LocalOn Thursday, February 16, the varsity wrestling team participated in a tri at Union Local High School with the home Jets, and the Shadyside Tigers. In their opening match, the Tigers had no opponents up until 132lb in which Tyler Garbrandt won by fall against Eli Gallaher. 150lb Servacio Lopez won by fall against Josh Harris, 215lb Lucas Thomas won by fall against Chris Stallion, while Matthew Hilbert, Jaydis Yoho, Leland Lopez, Beau Rinkes, Bryce Wallace, Hunter Bittinger, and Landen Thomas all received forfeits. The Huskies defeated the Tigers 60-12. They also managed to defeat the Jets 51-24. Matthew Hilbert, Zach Cole, and Jaydis Yoho received forfeits to start the match. 138lb Beau Rinkes won by fall against Ryan Howard, 144lb Leland Lopez won by fall against Logan Boone, 165lb Marcus Hilbert won by decision against Kaden Cross. 190lb RJ Hendershot won by fall against Bryor Vaught, 215lb Lucas Thomas won by fall against Logan Perkins, and Landen Thomas won by Medical Default against Steven Martin. - Servacio Lopez Academic Challenge Defeats Buckeye LocalOn Thursday, February 16, the Academic Challenge team hosted the Buckeye Local Panthers. The team shut out the Panthers, winning the match 3-0. | Our Week of Kindness!Students and staff participated in a Week of Kindness by dressing in different themes each day! Monday we wore purple to spread awareness for mental health, Tuesday was tie-dye or pink/red for Valentine’s Day, and Wednesday we wore shirts to represent things we like in hopes of making a new friend with similar interests. We rounded out the week with a crazy day on Thursday and our love for HC on Friday. Blessings in a BackpackPictured are Reese and Harper Dunlap helping tie Blessings in a Backpack food bags. Reese has helped multiple times and they are both learning community service at a young age! Fifth Grade GamesFifth grade students read articles about different games and then got to play life-size versions with Mrs. Steele! 3rd Grade STARSThird grade 21st Century students worked with Mrs. Rocchi to make dioramas of a constellation of their choice! These are out of this world! Sixth Grade AuthorsGarrett Wade, 6th grade student created and read a book to Miss A, Tipton's kindergarten class. After he read the book he had the students complete a dot to dot that he created. Aubrey Coffman created her own story and read it to Mrs. McAfee’s second graders. Great job!
