Junior High Boys’ Basketball Splits With Edison
On Friday, December 30, the junior high boys’ basketball team played at home against Edison. The 7th grade team won 35-23, and played intensely the whole game. Although the 8th grade fought hard, they unfortunately fell short and lost 30-26. - Kendra DeWees Girls’ Basketball Plays Away at Edison
On Monday, January 2, the girls’ basketball team played away at Edison. The girls finished the game with a victory, with a score of 69-33. Danica Rensi and Angi Ferri led the team, scoring 16 points each. Emma Fischer had 13 points, as well as Mackenzie Harbold with 10 points. - Leah Cottrell Junior High Girls’ Basketball Defeats Union Local
On Monday, January 2, the junior high girls’ basketball team defeated Union Local in a home game. The 7th grade won with a final score of 18-14, while the 8th grade was victorious, 32-15. - Malcom Davies Boys’ Basketball Hosts Martins Ferry
On Tuesday, January 3, the boys’ basketball team hosted Martins Ferry. The freshmen team won big with a final score of 51-14. The junior varsity team also won with a final score of 39-34. The varsity team unfortunately lost 49-36. - Chaz Culbertson Bowling at Conotton Valley
On Wednesday, January 4, the bowling team traveled to the Conotton Valley Rocket Center. The boys’ team was defeated with a score of 2572 - 2133. The team was led by Chad Veirs with 214 and 201, Drew Culbertson with 175 and 180, John Gray 163, and Kobie Hennis 177. The girls’ team was also defeated with an ending score of 2319 - 1516, led by Angel Utter with 142 and 136, and Cami Basich 133. - Emma Tuttle Huskies’ Wrestling Joins Indian Creek & Martins Ferry in Tri
On Wednesday, January 4, the junior high and varsity wrestling teams traveled to Indian Creek High School for a match with the Redskins, and the Martins Ferry Purple Riders. The varsity failed to comeback for a win, unfortunately falling to Indian Creek, 45-33. Securing victories for the Huskies were: 113lb Kenny Keffer, 132lb Andrew Cox, 138lb Leland Lopez, 190lb Michael Smith, 215lb Lucas Thomas, and 285lb Landen Thomas. The varsity also fell short to the Purple Riders, 48-28. Notable winning matches were: 138lb Leland Lopez, 144lb Servacio Lopez, 157lb Hunter Bittinger, 215lb Lucas Thomas, and 285lb Landen Thomas. The Junior High Huskies were defeated by both Martins Ferry, 51-12, and Indian Creek, 36-18. - Servacio Lopez Academic Challenge Hosts Indian Creek
On Thursday, January 5, the academic challenge team hosted a challenge with the Indian Creek Redskins. Unfortunately, both teams ended the night with a loss; junior varsity lost 3-0 and varsity lost 2-1. - Zoe Whipkey Bowling Falls to Dover 
On Thursday, January 5, the bowling team traveled to Dover. Unfortunately, all teams fell to the Tornadoes. Super Star Students!Some incredible students were recognized with Positive Behavior Shoutouts! 
Christmas Around the WorldBefore break, fourth grade writing and reading students researched Christmas traditions in a country of their choice. Then, they wrote an essay about it and presented a slideshow with all of the facts they learned to their teachers and peers! Awesome job! 





Happy New Year’s!Mrs. Harper and her students had a New Year’s Celebration complete with a countdown, balloons, and music! 



Indoor Recess FunFourth graders won’t let being inside for recess get them down! Kendra and Everli created a huge structure out of blocks. Even though it fell many times, the girls never gave up and showed amazing persistence! 
Decodable Reading and Syllables with Mrs. KnightThird grade students worked together in groups to find and highlight words with “ar” and “or” in their weekly decodable passage. Students also worked together to build words and explain vowel sounds using syllable types. For an extra challenge, students worked to come up with a single sentence that included as many of their words as possible. Great job!
