Huskies Talk Issue 23

Mrs. Snider met with the new Harrison Community Hospital CEO David Phillips to discuss the hospital/school community relationship.

The district received Covid Home Test Kits from the state. These may be requested from the nursing staff. 

The superintendent attended the Cadiz Business Association and Family Children First Council meetings.

Mrs. Snider attended the Village of Cadiz Council meeting where discussion was held concerning the district purchasing Mazeroski Field. 

The teachers’ organization Delta Kappa Gamma-Alpha Mu held their meeting in the auditorium on Saturday April 17th. Mrs. Snider gain the group a tour of Harrison Central after their meeting.

Mrs. Snider and Mrs. Harding attended the Zoom OMERESA Board Meeting.
Continued collaboration and planning for implementation of the Ohio Longitudinal Transition Survey

The Assistant Superintendent held planning and review meetings within special education staff. 

The routing of the sewage and water lines to the softball complex are now complete. Light poles are being installed. 
 

 

Staff Member of the Month

Ms. Doren has been a school counselor for only a few years, but her expertise and willingness to go the extra mile for our students is always evident. She continues to expand her knowledge base on current trends and ever changing requirements and has become a mentor to new counselors in our district as well. Additionally, she took on the role of director of our thespian groups and is ready for a very busy spring season. Congratulations to Ms. Doren, we appreciate very much all that you do for our students.

Teacher of the Month

Mr. Gossett has been a fixture in our junior high for many years and continues to work tirelessly for our students. He plans and executes lessons that foster creative STEM thinking and works to help all students succeed. In addition, he is a fixture at the crosswalk each morning helping elementary students get into the building safely, and he helps with numerous extracurricular activities, including golf and baseball. Congratulations to Mr. Gossett for this well-deserved award.

Boys’ Basketball Recognized

The varsity and junior varsity boys’ basketball teams were given participation and letter certificates on Wednesday, April 14th. Kobe Mitchell was presented with his all-time leading scorer basketball, which is going to be displayed in the trophy case outside the gym.

Track Record

On Friday, April 9, 2021, Thea Haney broke the school shot put record. The old record was 32 feet and 4 inches. The new record being 32 feet and 11 inches. Congratulations to Thea for holding a new school record and good luck to the track team with their season.

Harrison Central Track Meet

The high school track teams hosted another home track meet at our new facility. The girls placed 1st overall, continuing their winning streak at home. Congratulations to both teams on their performances on their new home turf!

Prom Royalty

Prom was successfully held on Saturday, April 17 in the high school cafeteria and gymnasium, where the students enjoyed dinner and dancing. Congratulations to the students who were crowned as the prom royalty: King and Queen: Sam Santille and Kate Crothers, and Prince and Princess: Ben Puskarich and Sarah Touville.

Peeking into Preschool

Preschoolers have been brushing up on their fine motor skills of tearing and cutting paper with Ms. V while completing their Lady Bug Lane projects. 

Soaring in Second

Seniors, Abbi Kelley and Kaitlyn Crothers, read a book about seeds and completed a foldable activity with Mrs. Doty’s class. The activity was implemented as part of their Agriculture Capstone class. The students enjoyed the activity!

Caroline VanDyke joined the 50 point AR Club. Caroline enjoys reading books about penguins.

Mrs. Gaffney’s class wrote a friendly letter to Dr. Stinky, the creator of our favorite scratch-n-sniff stickers. We gave him ideas for some new scents. Our ideas included Mac-n-cheese, chicken nuggets, pizza rolls, and vomit to name a few. Dr. Stinky wrote back and sent us a bunch of free stickers!!! We received flower, garbage, peanut butter, cough drop, and many more!!

Thriving in Third

Third grade has been working on these 3D BEEutiful O’Keefe pastel flowers with Ms.V.

Fabulous in Fourth

Fourth grade’s Stuffed Paper Animals from art class.

Fantastic in Fifth

Fifth graders have been learning about hues, tints, and shade while completing these 3D Animal projects with Ms. V.

Succeeding in Sixth

Sixth graders have been learning about mixed media designs while completing their Enlarged Animal projects.
