Huskies Talk Issue 10

Mrs. Snider and Mrs. Harding attended the OMERESA zoom Board of Directors’ meeting.

Harrison Central administrators attended their monthly meeting where Google Classroom, professional development, and safety precautions were discussed.

Mrs. Snider worked with the Cadiz Business Association to place Christmas trees in the center of Cadiz. 

Board of Education meeting was held November 19th.

District gifted student identification assessments were completed

Preparations were made for Ohio’s State Tests in grades 9-12

ACT testing preparations for Juniors are underway

Collaboration with parents and faculty members occurred throughout the week

Parking lot at the Stephenson Center is now complete and can be used.

Work has begun on the Heritage Garden Area with the Memorial Tree, Cornerstone base of the tree and the base for the tablets from the old high school. 

 

November 30, 2020, students in grades 10th through 12th had the chance to participate in the Americanism and Government test. Every year the American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary organize this program to perceive each student's knowledge of the government and citizens. If one scores high enough, they can earn a gift card that ranges from $25-$50.

Senior students in the Service Learning classes presented their end-of-year presentations over what community service projects they did this semester. The students presented to Mr. Parker and Mr. Dunlap. They worked very hard to help their community out during these difficult times.

Congratulations to Nurse Hollie Kulow and Mrs. McConnaughy for being selected for the State Farm awards for November: 

"Mrs. McConnaughy (Jr. High English Language Arts Teacher) has been a joy to work since she started in our district. She is always willing to help students achieve to their fullest potential. In addition, she has been a valuable asset to our gifted curriculum and our annual spelling bee. She is very deserving of this award."

"Mrs. Kulow (School Nurse) is a valuable member of our school staff, working to keep all the school's inhabitants safe and healthy. She works hard to keep all informed about health risks and precautions that need to be taken to ensure health and safety. With the current pandemic, her role has expanded exponentially. We thank her for her dedication to the safety of all students and staff."

Mrs. Pelegreen has been awarded the Rock Star Teacher of the month for December. She is a valuable and dependable member of our math department for many years. She continually adapts her teaching strategies to meet the learning needs of her students and works very well with students of all ability levels. She is a true team player, willing to help all at Harrison Central succeed. Mrs. Pelegreen is very deserving of recognition, and we congratulate her on this award.

Kickin’ It with Kindergarten

Fantastic in Fifth

Mrs. Steele and her fifth graders say goodbye to student teacher, Mr. Dom as he wraps up his time with us. They celebrated with cakes and cupcakes.

Fifth graders got very creative and tried to save Tom the Turkey from Thanksgiving dinner this year by disguising him. We had many wonderful disguises ranging from President Trump, President-Elect Biden, a Venus Flytrap, Santa Claus, Covid 19 virus, a Starbucks coffee mug, a movie star from Hollywood, a zebra, a box of popcorn, a gumball machine, and a puppy with a Christmas package in his mouth.

Mr. Dom brought in his banjo and ukulele to share with the class.

Peeking into Preschool

Miss Ashley’s group A has been working really hard practicing writing their names on dry erase boards and on the blacktop!

Miss Bethel’s fifth grade math team payed connect four using sticky notes and math problems to review multiplying large numbers.
