Huskies Talk Issue 4

The Business Advisory Council held a Google meeting where the annual plan was reviewed.

Special education reviews and updates to individual plans

Mrs. Harding participated in two zoom meetings this week for professional training. One was sponsored by the Southeast Ohio OASBO chapter and the other with Tuscarawas ESC. Federal COVID funds and state funding were the two main topics.

All FY20 final expenditure reports were filed by Mrs. Harding.

The fiscal department was bus during the month of September. Marcy Carter, assistant treasurer, updated and closed out the FY20 inventory. All information has been forwarded to Ohio School Plans. Joy Clements, payroll clerk, closed the first quarter of the fiscal year. In addition, this is when 85% of all staff contracts begin for the new school year. She also completed tasks related to staff reporting for EMIS.

Parent-Teacher Conferences

Parent-Teacher Conferences set for October 12, 2020 will be virtual. There will be no in-person conferences on this date. If you wish to schedule a conference with your child’s teacher, please visit the school website (www.hhcsd.org), click on the "Parents" page, then click on the "Meet The Teacher" link to book your conference(s). A Parents' Guide for Booking Appointments is available to assist you with this online process. If you have any questions, please feel free to call your school office.

 

Mr. Hlivko was selected to be Teacher of the Month by the Ohio Lottery Commission. He teaches upper high school level math.

Thriving in Third Grade

 

Mrs. Carpenter’s 3rd grade math class built their own scarecrows. First, they chose the parts they wanted for their scarecrow. Then they had to add up the cost of all the parts. Once they added their totals correctly, they were able to build their scarecrow with the parts they bought.

Following the Fourth Grade

Mrs. Agostini’s students have been working hard all month on an at home STEM project. Students were asked to create something using an unsharpened pencil. Pictured above are a few of the neat submissions. You can view the entire slideshow on the TVs in the front hall of the school.

Quizlet brings a new energy and excitement to our weekly vocabulary! Pictured above are students as they work indiviually and in teams to prepare for their weekly quiz. They also have the ability to study premade flashcards or play games to study at home. Thanks to our fifth grade teachers for the tip!
