Huskies Defeat Indian Creek Redskins

On Friday, October 14, Harrison Central traveled to Indian Creek. The Huskies ended up defeating the Redskins 50-13. Hayden Cassidy threw for 211 yards and two touchdowns. Six touchdowns were scored throughout the night by Mykel Quito, Nico Wurschum, Blake Atkins, Tre Rex, and Alex Fluharty. This makes their overall record for the season 5-4.

Cross Country OVCCL

On Saturday, October 15, the cross country team traveled to Buckeye Local to compete in the OVCCL. The individuals with the best times for the Huskies include: Aiden Hayes with a new best time of 18:55:00, finishing in 25th place overall and 2nd place for the boys’ team, Maddy Edwards with a 24:32:00, finishing in 26th place overall and 1st place for the girls’ team, and Sean Forrester with a 18:18:00, finishing in 15th place overall and 1st place for the boys’ team.

Junior Varsity Football Falls to Indian Creek

On Saturday, October 15, the Junior Varsity Football team hosted Indian Creek and lost 8-6. Beau Rinkes had 56 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown. Brady Hyre passed for 42 yards, with 12 rushing yards. Jacob Quito had 3 receptions for 20 yards, Chaz Culbertson had one reception for 18 yards, and Kayne Dunkle had one reception for 4 yards.

Huskies Defeat Jackson Milton High School

On Monday, October 17, the boys’ soccer team traveled to Jackson Milton High School, to face the Rockets in the first round of the Sectional Tournament. The Huskies defeated the Rockets with a final score of 2 -1. Lunis Hildebrandt made the first goal, while Jace Madzia made the winning goal, and Jaydis Yoho had 13 saves.

Varsity Volleyball Falls to River View

On Wednesday, October 19, the varsity volleyball team traveled to River View to play in the sectional final. Unfortunately, their season came to an end, as they lost in three sets; 25-10, 25-13, 25-15. The Huskies were led by Danica Rensi with 9 kills and 13 digs, Maddy Butler with 13 digs, Nessa Culver with 5 digs, and Olivia Tonkovich with 13 assists.

Girls’ Soccer Defeated by Big Red

On Thursday, October 20, the girls’ soccer team traveled to Harding Stadium to play Big Red for their sectional game. The Huskies fell short 6-1. Even though the Huskies lost, Angi Ferri scored one goal for the Huskies, which was her 30th goal of the season, breaking Sydney Starr’s record of 29 goals in one season. The girls’ season ended with a 7-9-1 record.

Boys’ Soccer Defeated by Maplewood

On Thursday, October 20, the boys’ soccer team traveled to Maplewood High School to play for the sectional title. The Huskies held the game at halftime, with the game being tied 0-0. Unfortunately, they fell short, finishing their season, with a final score of 1-0. Jaydis Yoho had 15 saves for the night. The boys ended their season with a record of 7-12.

Band and Choir Hold Fall Concerts

The band and choir held their fall concerts in the auditorium on Wednesday, October 19 and Thursday, October 20, respectively. The band concert consisted of the marching band playing multiple pieces, while the choir concert consisted of three groups performing; Belcanto, Bella Voche, and the Select Choir. The concert was opened with Belcanto, directed by Mr. Eric Zalenski. Following was Bella Voche, directed by Mrs. Angela Zalenski, along with the Select Choir. All three groups did an outstanding job with their performance, and their next concert will be held December 13.

National Honor Society Tutoring

Members of the National Honor Society are completing community service hours by tutoring elementary students in grades kindergarten through third. Pictured above are Logan Peeler and Lexi Smith helping students with letter and number recognition, along with sounds.

Bus Safety Week at Harrison Central Elementary!

This past week our students were all given an education in bus safety. They were joined by our Sheriff's Office, Husky mascot and Safety Pup! Thank you to everyone involved for helping make sure our students stay safe on and off the bus!

First Grade Fall Field Trip!

First grade went on a field trip to Shumaker Pumpkin Farm where they had so much fun! They got to see a presentation, go on hay rides,and play on some super fun equipment. They also did some fall-based activities, pet adorable animals, and every student even picked out and took home their very own pumpkin!


Positive Behavior Shoutouts!

Congratulations to all of those students who were awarded with a shoutout for doing things the Huskies Way! Braelyn was ready to learn, Gage and Chase showed kindness to a classmate, and Sabrina was engaged in learning in the classroom! Rori and Willow were responsible and Zendaya was caring! Awesome job!


Senior Projects Coming to Kindergarten

Two of our high school students, Cameron Aighinbaugh and Hannah Ragusa, read stories to Miss A. Tipton’s kindergarten class as a part of their senior project. Thank you both for spending time with our students!


IXL Presentation

One of our IXL Coaches, Miss Bailie Ray, presented at the Jefferson County Educational Service Center to teach surrounding school districts about IXL and how we use it at Harrison Central.



As we use IXL even more, classes are finding fun ways to get everyone involved! Mrs. Pellick’s class did a Group Jam on contractions and some of Miss A. Tipton’s kindergarten Stepped into the Arena.
