Track Places Top 3 at Union Local

   

On Friday, April 28, the track team ran in the Gloria Dawes Invitational, at Union Local. Overall, the girls’ placed 2nd and the boys’ placed 3rd. Both teams also competed in the shuttle hurdles for the first time this season, and both placed very well.

Baseball Falls to Garaway

On Friday, April 28, the varsity baseball team traveled to Garaway. Unfortunately, the boys fell with a final score of 6-1.

Ruritan Banquet

The annual Ruritan Banquet was held on Tuesday, May 2 at the Barr Memorial in Scio. High school students, with a cumulative 3.5 GPA for this school year, were recognized for their achievement. Twelve senior students, which had to be four year Ruritan Scholars, were awarded $500 scholarships to end the evening.

 

Softball Defeats Bellaire

Wednesday, May 3, the varsity softball team traveled to Bellaire. They battled through a close game, going into 8 innings, and came out on top, winning 13-10. The junior varsity was defeated 16-7.

Baseball Falls to St. Clairsville

On Wednesday, May 3, the varsity baseball team hosted St. Clairsville for a rematch of the OVAC semi-final and a preview of Friday night’s Buckeye 8 championship game. The Huskies rallied back and came close to tying the game, but unfortunately left the bases loaded in the last inning, which left them defeated 2-1. The junior varsity team traveled to Edison, where they dropped a close one, 6-5.

Varsity Baseball Falls to Wheeling Park

On Thursday, May 4, the varsity baseball team traveled to face Wheeling Park. It was an extremely close game, but unfortunately they ended up losing 8-7. The junior varsity also fell, with a final score of 12-2.

National Landmarks

Third graders completed projects about different National Symbols and Landmarks! Great job on all of your hard work!

 

Fourth Grade Tester!

Dakota won the fourth grade raffle drawing for working so hard on all of her state tests!

 

Door Decorating Contest!

Harrison Central’s ALL Team held a contest within the school to decorate doors in celebration of our differences and how they make us special! Winning doors were created by Mrs. Smith’s preschool class and Mrs. Knight’s third grade class! Also shown below are some of the other awesome doors from the contest!

 

March Madness Math!

Mrs. Madzia held a “March Madness” style tournament using IXL Math skills and these four students made it to the coveted Final Four! Great job!

Egyptian Studies

These are the Canopic Jars made by Mr. Smith’s sixth graders during a lesson on Ancient Egypt! How cool are these?

Mrs. V also decided to contribute to the project with a needle felting project. Who can guess the song title for the art work?

 

Energy Energy Energy!

Students in the after school program learned about energy for Earth Day!

 

Little Huskies Relay

Some of HC Elementary’s students participated in the track team’s Little Husky Relay event!

 

Fishy Science

Third graders participated in the Fishy Science program presented by OSU extension. Students learned about the features and adaptations of goldfish. So much fun!

 

Bubble Painting

Third graders did some bubble painting! Mrs. V says it was messy but boy did they have fun!

 

Computer Class of the Month

Mrs. Nign’s preschool class was chosen as the Class of the Month by our computer teacher, Mrs. Arbaugh! Great job!

 

Enlargement Art

Sixth grade students completed enlargement art projects by choosing an image, and then using grids to enlarge their pictures! These are amazing!

 

Doctors of Text Features

Mrs. Bailey’s fifth grade classes worked as doctors to dissect patients to locate text features. They glued into packets using their doctors notes which are the purposes of each text feature they identified. This looks like a blast!

 

Ch-Ch-Ch-Chia!

Students in Mrs. Sobleski’s class made their own Chia Pets to watch the roots grow, learn about them, and then give them a haircut!
