Varsity Wrestling Takes 3rd in Garaway Peg Leg

On Saturday, January 28, the varsity wrestling team traveled to Garaway High School for a tournament, where the Huskies brought home a third place finish out of 14 teams. They had seven placers on the day; 106lb Zane Carson-3rd, 120lb Matthew Hilbert-3rd, 132lb Andrew Cox-4th, 138lb Beau Rinkes-4th, 144lb Servacio Lopez-2nd, 157lb Marcus Hilbert-4th, 215lb Lucas Thomas- 2nd. Congratulations wrestlers!

Varsity Boys’ Defeat Martins Ferry in Buckeye 8 Championship

On Saturday, January 28, the varsity boys’ basketball team took part in the Buckeye 8 Championship and proceeded to out play undefeated, state ranked Martins Ferry. The boys played very well and had many highlight plays. The Huskies were led by Hayden Cassidy with 30 points, followed by Mykel Quito with 27 points and 10 rebounds, and Jace Madzia with 13 points and many impressive defensive plays. The final score was 88-79. The boys’ were awarded a Buckeye 8 Championship trophy and a banner. Congratulations!

Junior High Wrestling Partakes in OVC’s

On Saturday, January 28, the junior high wrestling team traveled to Union Local for the annual Ohio Valley Championships. Andrew Alberts placed 5th at 104lb and Colton Locke placed 6th at 160lb. They finished 19th overall, out of 32 teams.

Junior High Girls’ Basketball Defeats Shadyside

On Saturday, January 28, the junior high girls’ basketball team played away at Shadyside. Both the 7th and 8th grade teams won their game. 7th grade finished with a score of 20-12, and 8th grade had a final score of 28-7. Both teams played a very good game, and their hard work shows with the score.

Huskies Face Off in Bowling OVAC’s

The Harrison Central Bowling team traveled to St. Clair Lanes to fight for the OVAC Championship on Saturday, January 28. The girls team finished in 4th place. Individual scorers for the girls were: Lauren Best, who placed 16th, with 125, 156, and 155, Angel Utter with 161, 136, and 136, Cami Basich with 126, 134, and 129, Erica Emhoff with 126 and 131, and TyLynn Smith with 131. The boys team placed 5th overall, with individual scorers of: Kobie Hennis, placing 8th, with 216, 186, and 200, Drew Culbertson with 223, 187, and 173, Chad Viers with 232, 187, and 173, Kyle Bake with 175, 160, and 125, and John Gray with 128 and 205.

Girls’ Basketball Falls to Oak Glen in OVAC Semifinal

On Monday, January 30, the girls’ basketball team traveled to Oak Glen for the OVAC Semifinal. Unfortunately, the junior varsity lost with the final score of 37-9, while the varsity fell with the final score of 53-33.

Junior High Boys’ Basketball Falls to St. Clairsville

On Monday, January 30, the junior high boys’ basketball team traveled to St. Clairsville. The 7th grade team unfortunately lost 49-29. Although the 8th grade team played well, they lost 45-27. Austin Dulkoski had 19 of those points.

Freshmen Boys’ Basketball Defeats Brooke

Monday, January 30, the freshmen boys’ basketball team took on the Bruins of Brooke High School. The Huskies won with a final score of 47-40.

Huskies Defeat East Liverpool

On Tuesday, January 31, the high school boys’ basketball team traveled to East Liverpool to play the Potters. Junior varsity unfortunately fell with a score of 55-46, but the varsity brought the heat, winning with a score of 71-57.

Huskies Bowling Defeats Martins Ferry

On Tuesday, January 3, both boys’ and girls’ bowling traveled to Martins Ferry to verse the Purple Riders. The girls won with a final score of 1606-1181, while the boys were victorious 1801-1535.

Huskies Fall to Panthers in OVAC Action

On Thursday, February 2, the girls’ basketball team traveled to Buckeye Local for an OVAC consolation game. The girls battled back and forth with the Panthers. Unfortunately, they fell to the Panthers with the final score being 57-51.

The River Eastern Gateway Player of the Week

Hayden Cassidy was named The River Eastern Gateway Player of the Week. Hayden scored 30 points in the Buckeye 8 Championship game to help defeat Martins Ferry.

100th Day Project Winners

Students in Mrs. McAfee;s second grade class held a contest for the 100th day of school in which students made a poster using 100 items. The winners below are:

100th Day Celebrations

Students celebrated the 100th day of school this week! They played themed games, made crafts, and did reading and math activities all about this momentous day!

 

Friday Fun

Fifth grade students celebrated a fun Friday by using the foil from their lunch to create the first letters of their names and then made words out of those letters. They were also tasked with making snowmen. Great job!

Fifth Grade Stars

Students in Mrs. Bailey’s fifth grade classes had an eventful week! Students earned certificates for meeting their nine weeks AR goal, were awarded for straight A’s, and used exercise to jump and jog to review Main Idea vs. Theme. How fun!

 

Second Grade Brainiacs

Students pictured below got perfect scores on all of their spelling and vocabulary tests for the nine weeks in Mrs. McAfee’s room! What a great achievement!
