Student Council Blood Drive

On Friday, November 4, the student council held their annual blood drive. There were 22 people present to donate. They were able to gather 16 blood donations. These generous gifts will be used to sustain or save the lives of up to 48 patients in need. Harrison Central is nine donations away from receiving a $500 scholarship. The next blood drive will be April 14, 2023.

Cheerleaders Compete at Lake High School

On Sunday, November 6, the cheerleading team attended Lake High School to compete with three of their competition squads. Junior High placed 2nd, the Gameday team placed 3rd and Traditional earned 1st place.

Eastern District Soccer Game

On Sunday, November 6, 4 senior soccer players; Lexi Smith, Gracie Rogers, Jace Madzia, and Taylor Cope played in the senior showcase game representing the Eastern District for Harrison Central. The girls played at noon, beating the west team with a score of 2-0. The boys followed after, defeating the west team with a score of 2-0 as well.

Senior Mock Interviews

On Monday, November 7, the senior class participated in mock job interviews with various community members. The students were interviewed for a position in their future career field, where they were graded on proper dress attire, etiquette, and preparedness, along with their prepared cover letter and resume for the position.

Girls’ Basketball Defeats Carrollton in Scrimmage

On Monday, November 7, the girls’ basketball team played at home against Carrollton, in their first scrimmage. They played a total of seven quarters. The Lady Huskies played very well, winning four games, losing two, and tying one. Good luck the rest of the season!

Boys’ Basketball Hosts Scrimmage with Claymont

On Tuesday, November 8, the boys’ basketball team hosted a scrimmage with Claymont. They played a total of eight quarters, which were six minutes each. The coaches stated the team played well for being the first scrimmage of the year.

Girls’ Basketball Scrimmages at Catholic Central

On Thursday, November 10, the girls’ basketball team traveled to Catholic Central to scrimmage. The varsity team played five quarters, each for 10 minutes, and the junior varsity played three quarters, each for 10 minutes.

Boys’ Basketball Scrimmages Carrollton

On Thursday, November 10, the boys’ basketball team hosted Carrollton for a scrimmage. The varsity team played eight quarters, while the junior varsity and freshmen teams played four quarters each.

Pumpkin Contest Winners!

Mrs. McAfee’s class participated in creating pumpkins to represent some of their favorite books. Staff and students voted on their favorites and the winners are below!

50th Day Celebration!

Second grade had a 50’s day celebration to celebrate the 50th day of school! They worked on retro centers, dressed up, and had some 50’s snacks and treats!

 

Election Day

Mrs. Turner’s second graders learned about voting by casting their own ballots! Great job learning about your civil responsibilities!

 

Positive Shoutouts!

Some of our Huskies were rewarded for positive behavior! Parker was caught treating others with kindness. Way to do things the Huskies Way!

 

Veteran’s Day

This week, we celebrated Veteran’s Day by honoring those who have served our country. Here are some pictures of our decorations, acts of kindness, and from our parade through the Veteran’s breakfast. Thank you for your service!

 

Indoor Recess Clubs

5th grade students started enjoying indoor recess Clubs on a rainy Friday. A few shown are Fitness Club as they follow a video, Puzzle Club attempting a 1,000 piece collaboration, and the most popular, Board Game Club. We also have some pictures of our Card and Magic club!
