Boys’ Basketball Defeats Edison

On Friday, December 2, the boys’ basketball team traveled to Edison, where both teams won by 20 or more points. The junior varsity team won with a final score of 47-21. The varsity team won with a final score of 74-51. Hayden Cassidy was named player of the game, with 21 points.

Girls’ Basketball Defeats Tigers 

On Saturday, December 3, the girls’ basketball team hosted the WVU Holiday Classic and played the Shadyside Tigers. They went on to win the game with a score of 56-33. Kenzie Harbold led all scorers with 19 points and Maddy Butler added 12 points. The other games during the Classic were: Fort Frye against Martins Ferry, the Cadets winning 39-19, and Union Local against Tusky Valley, the Jets winning 49-35.

Boys’ Bowling Takes First Place

On Saturday, December 3, the boys’ bowling team traveled to Indian Valley, for their invitational. The boys came out victorious, placing first overall.

Jr. High Wrestling Debut at Claymont

On Saturday, December 3, the Jr. High Wrestling team competed at the Claymont Invitational Tournament, making their debut to start off the season. They placed 13th, and are looking forward to their future matches.

Girls’ Basketball Defeats Potters

On Monday, December 5, the girls’ basketball team traveled to East Liverpool to take on the Potters. The junior varsity fell with a final score of 31-17. However, the varsity won a close one, 33-31, led by Angi Ferri with 11 points, Maddy Butler with 9 points, and Mackenzie Harbold with 8 points.

Junior High Girls’ Basketball Hosts Shadyside

On Monday, December 5, the junior high girls’ basketball played at home against Shadyside. The 7th grade team lost with a final score of 12-17. The 8th grade team won with a final score of 45-17.

Junior High Boys’ Basketball Splits Against Edison

On Monday, December 5, the Junior High Boys’ Basketball team traveled to Edison. The 7th grade team played well, had the lead the whole time, and won 32-26. Zach Harbold played really well on defense and the whole team played really smart. 8th grade played hard and tried their best but came up short and lost 30-20.

Bowling Hosts Union Local 

On Tuesday, December 6, the boys’ and girls’ varsity bowling teams played against Union Local. The girls’ won 1683-1473, but the boys’ unfortunately lost 1916-1974.

Wrestling at Claymont

On Wednesday, December 7, the Harrison Central Wrestling team opened up their season at Claymont High School. Despite their best efforts out on the mat, the varsity Huskies fell to the Mustangs, 42-31. Wins by fall came from: 132lb Andrew Cox, 157lb Hunter Bittinger, and 285lb Landen Thomas. Servacio Lopez won by major decision 14-5, and Lucas Thomas ended the evening with a 8-4 decision over Wyatt Shaw. The junior high also fell to Claymont, 78-12.

Bowling Defeats Monroe Central 

Wednesday, December 7, at Russell Family Bowling Center, the boys’ and girls’ bowling teams both defeated Monroe Central. The varsity boys’ team score was H.C. 1788 - Monroe Central 1397 and Beallsville 1229. High individual scores were: Sean Drapp 202, Kobie Hennis 170, Chad Viers 169, and Drew Culbertson 151. Varsity girls team score was H.C. 1687 - Monroe Central 1398. High individual scores were: Lauren Best 171 & 187, Angel Utter 171, and Cami Basich 150. It was a good day on the lanes for these young athletes that put countless hours into improving their game.

Academic Challenge

On Thursday, December 8, the academic challenge team competed against Edison for their first match of the season. The team consists of 12 members, 2 of which are returning. The junior varsity team won their match, 2-1. The varsity team lost their match, 2-1.

Girls’ Basketball Wins Against Beaver Local

On Thursday, December 8, the girls’ basketball team played Beaver Local at home. The Huskies junior varsity beat the Beavers 14-12, playing 2 quarters. The varsity then beat the Beavers 63-21. Maddy Butler led in scoring with 18 points, Danica Rensi had 14 points, and Mackenzie Harbold and Emma Fischer both had 9 points.

Holiday Treats and Good Deeds

Students with Miss Tosha and Miss Kira got into the holiday spirit by working together to bake as well as create, and hand out some (delicious) treats to staff members!

 

12 Days of Christmas!

Dress up with us as we countdown to Christmas Break!

Christmas Play!

On December 16th, the Theatre Department will be putting on the show “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever!” and have invited our students to watch. They are asking for a $2 donation to see the show!

The show will be available to the public on December 16th, 17th and 18th with presale tickets on sale in the main office of the high school!
