From Sunday, March 12, through Friday March 17, senior students Emma Fischer and Lizzy Clelland attended the Close-Up Trip in Washington, D.C. These two students were chosen based on their outstanding personal essays that were required to be written in order to qualify for the trip, along with their teacher evaluations. During their time in Washington, they attended seminars with experts, study visits, meetings with elected officials, and participated in student discussions, simulations, deliberations, and debates with highly trained program instructors, where they practiced citizenship skills and got to experience the government in action.
