Wrestling Sectionals

  
 

 
  

The wrestling team traveled to Sandy Valley on Saturday, February 24, to participate in the OHSAA D3 Sectional Tournament, where they finished 9th. 132 pound Andrew Cox won his first match 6-4 against Aadon Slaughter from Ridgewood, lost to Evan Yohman from Edison by pin, then lost to Keenan Lucey from Martins Ferry by pin. He was one match away from going to the District Tournament. Bryce Wallace lost to Hays from Meadowbrook by pin in 5 mins 11 seconds and lost by decision to Tj Proctor from Malvern. Hunter Bittinger won by pin against Galvin Furmanski from Edison, then beat Andrew Leiffer from Martins Ferry 5-4, which was Bittinger’s 100th Career Win. He then medically forfeited his match for 1st place, finishing in 2nd place.

Vito Parziale lost to Jacob Rubins from Malvern by pin, then lost to Jayden Thomas from Edison, which concluded his season. RJ Hendershot lost to Devyn Crater by pin and lost to Luis Wahl from Garaway, ending his season as well. Lucas Thomas pinned James Weekly in 25 seconds, pinned Tayson Palmer from Martins Ferry in 1:17, and for first place, beat Zach Babiczuk from Malvern 10-2. Landen Thomas pinned Alex Carpin from Martins Ferry, pinned Ethan Heady from Meadowbrook, and pinned Dylan Congdon from Tusky Valley for first place. We had three wrestlers qualify for the District Tournament; Hunter Bittinger, Lucas Thomas, and Landen Thomas.

Girls’ Basketball Finishes Season

  
 

 
  

On Saturday, February 24, the girls’ basketball team traveled to Dover for the Sectional Tournament. Unfortunately, the girls were defeated with a final score of 45-27. This finished their season, ending with an overall record of 10-12.

Boys’ Basketball Wins First Round of Sectionals

  
 

 
  

On Tuesday, February 27, the boys’ basketball team played Bellaire in the first round of the Sectional Tournament. The boys were victorious with a final score of 74-30.

Academic Challenge Tournament

  
 

 
  

On Thursday, February 29, the academic challenge team finished the 2023-2024 Jefferson County Academic Competition League in second place. They tied for fifth place at the 39th Annual Jefferson County Academic Competition League tournament at Edison High School that day as well.

“Egg”cellent Learning!

  
  4-H educator Caity Romshak came for the second lesson in the Chick Quest series. The students observed eggs that were soaked in vinegar or sugar water. The students made a Venn Diagram to organize their observations. Great job!  
 

 
  4th grade students with the help of Caity Romshak, 4-H educator, wrapped up the third lesson of Chick Quest. This week the students were engineers. Their goal was to build a "nest" using a certain amount of materials. We had two groups that were able to "save their egg." However, all students had a great learning experience. Stay tuned for the chicks!  
 

 
  

Literacy Night!
