Harrison Hills Students Visit Statehouse, Participate in Mock Trial

Harrison Hills City School District students had an exciting and educational experience during a recent field trip to the Ohio Statehouse and Supreme Court of Ohio.
Students toured the historic Statehouse, explored the judicial system firsthand, and took part in a mock trial at the Supreme Court building, providing them with a unique, hands-on learning opportunity about the legal process.
A highlight of the trip included the rare opportunity to sit in the House chamber as legislators voted to confirm Jim Tressel as Lieutenant Governor. Students watched the legislative process in action as Tressel’s confirmation passed both the Senate and House.
The district extends its gratitude to Rep. Don Jones' office for organizing the visit and generously providing lunch for the students.
“This was an incredible experience for our students to see government in action and engage with the legislative and judicial process firsthand,” said Samantha McIntosh, high school government teacher.
The field trip was a memorable day of learning, engagement, and real-world connections to government and civics.
