Boys’ Basketball Defeats the Red Devils
On Friday, February 3, the boys team traveled to St. Clairsville. The junior varsity team won their game with a score of 60-57. The varsity team also went home with a victory, 64-54. - Leah Cottrell Junior Varsity Bowling Tournament
On Friday, February 3, the junior varsity bowling team traveled to St. Clair Lanes to qualify for the upcoming championship match. Bowlers who qualified will continue on to Brooke Lanes in Wellsburg, West Virginia on Friday, February 10th. Qualifiers from the Huskies include Peyton Roski in 1st place, who bowled a 181 and a 144. Hayley Willis, who came in 2nd place, with scores of 123 and 115. Kimmy Eikleberry placed 5th, with scores of 100 and 133. In addition, Carly Best, who placed 8th with scores of 118 and 110. Other individual scores for the Huskies include: Devin Churchill at 109 and 100, Holden Anthony at 101 and 91, Tevan Palmer at 98, LJ Mitchell at 95, Maddy Edwards at 123, Danielle Drapp with 116, Hannah Ragusa at 113, and McKeehan Manson at 102. - Lexi Smith Junior High Boys’ Basketball Tournaments
On Saturday, February 4, the junior high boys’ basketball team traveled to St. Clairsville, to participate in their tournament. The 7th grade team played Shadyside. Unfortunately, they ended the game with a loss of 41-27. The 8th grade team played Skyvue but they also unfortunately lost 60-10. - Gabriella DiMichele Junior High Girls’ Basketball Tournament Play
On Saturday, February 4, the junior high girls’ basketball team played their tournament games. The 7th grade team won their game against Shadyside, with a score of 15-4, therefore continuing their season. Unfortunately, the 8th grade team fell to the Barnesville Shamrocks, 42-5, sadly bringing their season to an end. - Sophie Bland Varsity Wrestling Attends State Duals
On Saturday, February 4, the wrestling team traveled to Barnesville High School to participate in the OHSWCA Division III Dual Meet State Championships. They faced off against Marion Pleasant in round one. Unfortunately, the Huskies faced a rough start to their Saturday morning, falling to Pleasant 64-12. They then had to face Sandy Valley in a Consolation Dual. They were able to come back and secure the victory, overcoming the Cardinals, 42-40, with help from Landen Thomas pinning his opponent in the final match. 132lb Beau Rinkes won by fall against Madison Vickers, 215lb Lucas Thomas won by fall against Dylan Watkins, and 285lb Landen Thomas won by fall against Alec Trent. 144lb Servacio Lopez, 150lb Bryce Wallace, 175lb RJ Hendershot, and 190lb Blake Atkins all received forfeits. - Servacio Lopez O.V.A.C. Cheer Competition
On Saturday, February 4, the traditional competition cheer team competed in the O.V.A.C. cheerleading competition. They competed in the 4A division, where they received runner–up. Congratulations! - Haley Dunlap Freshmen Boys Defeat Weir
On Monday, February 4, the freshmen boys’ basketball team hosted the Weir Red Riders. The Huskies held the lead through the entire game, and finished with a final score of 41-34. - Cooper Thompson Varsity Bowling Defeats St. Clairsville on Senior Night
On Tuesday, February 7, the girls’ and boys’ varsity bowling teams bowled against St. Clairsville at JR Lanes. The boys’ varsity won 2070-1986, with the following individual high scores: Kobie Hennis at 255, Chad Viers at 237, John Gray at 163, Drew Culbertson at 162, and Sean Drapp at 162. The girls’ varsity also won 1688-1272, with the following individual high scores: Cami Basich at 177 and 156, Erica Emhoff at 174 and 140, Lauren Best at 156 and 137, and Angel Utter at 138. It was also senior night, and Cami Basich, Erica Emhoff, Holden Anthony, Sean Drapp, Kendra DeWees, Hannah Ragusa, Cameron Aughinbugh, Lauren Best, and Carly Best were recognized! - Kendra DeWees Huskies Defeated at Weir
On Tuesday, February 7 the boys’ basketball team traveled to Weir High School for the OVAC semi-final game. The junior varsity fell with a score of 53-31. The varsity played a tough game, but unfortunately came up short, falling with a final score of 62-61. - Khylii Keffer Varsity Bowling Defeats Beaver Local
On Wednesday, February 8, the girls’ and boys’ varsity bowling teams traveled to Tri State Lanes to take on Beaver Local for their last regular season match. The boys team was victorious 2246-1840. High individual scores were: Chad Viers, 190 and 213, Kobie Hennis, 186 and 203, Sean Drapp 174 and 168, Drew Culbertson 173 and 147, John Gray 148, and Kyle Bake 140. The girls team was also victorious 1857-1590. Individual scores for the girls were: Lauren Best 193, Angel Utter 161 and 169, Cami Basich 161 and 146, Grace Cain 145, and TyLynn Smith 144. - Kaleb Bethel 7th Grade Girls’ Basketball Falls in Tournament
On Wednesday, February 8, the 7th grade girls’ basketball team traveled to Bellaire to play in the second round of their tournament. Unfortunately, they ended their season, as they were defeated 33-18. - Zoe Whipkey Freshmen Boys’ Basketball Falls at Beaver Local
On Wednesday, February 8, the freshmen boys’ basketball team played at Beaver Local. Cooper Thompson led the team in points, with 20. They would lose 37-31. This game was the last game of the season for the freshmen, they ended the year with a 2-8 record. - Chaz Culbertson Girls’ Basketball Falls to Steubenville
On Thursday, February 9, the girls’ basketball team traveled to Steubenville Big Red. The junior varsity lost 39-21. The varsity girls also fell short, 69-41. Maddy Butler led the team with 16 points. - Maddy Bender Varsity Wrestling Takes the Sweep at Fairless Tri
On Thursday, February 9, the varsity wrestling team picked up a late match against Fairless and Dalton. The Huskies had a great evening on the mat, as they defeated Dalton 39-30, and sneaked out a win against Fairless, 39-36. Congratulations to Lucas Thomas for picking up his 100th career win! - Servacio Lopez Academic Challenge Defeats St. Clairsville
On Thursday, February 9, the academic challenge team traveled to St. Clairsville to compete against the Red Devils. The Huskies won two of the three rounds, leaving with a victory. Positive Behavior AwardsCongratulations to the following students for receiving positive behavior awards: Aiden Salyers for engaging in learning, Lillianne Smith for kindness, Cameron Fulton for responsibility, and Abigail Ward for kindness.
