Boys’ Basketball vs East LiverpoolOn Friday, December 9, the boys’ basketball team played at home against East Liverpool. Junior varsity unfortunately ended the game with a score of 27-26. Varsity also fell short with an ending score of 70-48. Hayden Cassidy and Jace Madzia both scored 10 points for the Huskies. - Emma Tuttle Varsity Wrestling at W.I.T. in SmithvilleOn Friday, December 9, Harrison Central took 13 wrestlers to Smithville. On Friday night, Hunter Bittinger started off round one with a fall. At 175, Michael Smith won by a late third period fall. At 215, Lucas Thomas secured a win in the first period, and Landen Thomas followed with a first period fall. At 132, Andrew Cox suffered a loss on the night, but was able to fight back in the next coming rounds to advance for placement. On Saturday, December 10, Cox started the morning with a fall, followed by Smith. Hunter Bittinger, Lucas Thomas, and Landen Thomas all secured championship spots in their weight classes, each of them bringing home a second place finish. Cox was awarded fifth place. The team finished 7th place overall out of 17 teams. - Servacio Lopez Cheering Wins State TitleOn Saturday, December 10, the competition gameday team competed at the OHSAA state competition. They competed in the qualifying round where they then moved on to finals. They also won best band chant and crowd-leading. Congratulations! - Haley Dunlap Girls Bowl Away at Indian Valley InvitationalOn Saturday, December 10, the girls’ bowling team played their match at the Indian Valley invitational. The teams that participated were Harrison Central, River View, Indian Valley and Garaway. The Harrison Central girls’ placed second overall. - Leah Cottrell Junior High Wrestling at Indian Creek TournamentOn Saturday, December 10, the junior high wrestling team traveled to Indian Creek to participate in their tournament. The team finished the day in 17th place, as there were some forfeits due to illness. Junior High Boys’ Basketball Splits Against Conotton ValleyOn Saturday, December 10, the junior high boys’ basketball team traveled to Conotton Valley. The 7th grade team won 26-18, and played well under pressure. This makes them 3-1. The 8th grade team unfortunately lost, 31-11. - Kendra DeWees Bowling Defeats John MarshallThe bowling team traveled to John Marshall on Monday, December 12. The varsity boys’ team won 1789-1234, and the varsity girls’ team won 1464-1182. The junior varsity boys’ team bowled against Union Local, falling 936-842, while the girls’ junior varsity team bowled against East Richland Christian Academy’s varsity team, where they were defeated 1134-1128. Girls’ Basketball Defeated by CreekOn Monday, December 12, the girls’ basketball team traveled to Indian Creek for a regular season game. The girls’ had a tough loss, 74-36, which made them 6-2. Danica Rensi led the team with 10 points. - Angi Ferri Christmas Band ConcertOn Monday, December 12, the Harrison Central Band hosted their annual Christmas concert in the auditorium. They showcased their wonderful talents by performing a variety of Christmas songs for individuals from the community to attend. - Lexi Smith Freshmen Boys’ Basketball Falls to the CadetsOn Tuesday, December 13, the freshman basketball team lost against the Linsly Cadets, 42-36. The boys played well. The Freshman coach, Coach Little, said that the freshmen this year are going to have a good season and is excited to see how they finish throughout the season. - Cooper Thompson Christmas Choir ConcertOn Tuesday, December 13, the annual Christmas choir concert was held in the high school auditorium. Four groups performed: Junior High Choir, Belcanto, Bella Voche and the Select Choir. Mrs. and Mr. Zalenski did a fabulous job, along with the choir. All four groups provided a beautiful performance, and their next concert will be in the spring. - Sophie Bland Varsity Wrestling vs. PanthersOn Wednesday, December 14, the wrestling team fell short of a win in a home dual against Buckeye Local with a final score of 43-33. Starting at 106, Zane Carson received a forfeit. At 132, Andrew Cox won by decision, 12-11, against Seth Driscoll. At 144, Servacio Lopez won by fall in 1:57 against Landon Durbin. Hunter Bittinger was also able to secure a 1:30 fall against Gavin Edgell. 215 pound, Lucas Thomas won by fall over Bryce Horvath. Landen Thomas ended the night with a 0:48 fall against Brendon Stillion. The Biddy Huskies were also recognized between the junior high and varsity matches. - Servacio Lopez Girls’ Basketball vs Purple Riders On Wednesday, December 14, the girls’ basketball team played away at Martins Ferry. Junior varsity fell with a score of 14-9, only playing two quarters. Varsity also fell short with a final score of 31-26. - Zoe Whipkey Bowling Defeats BridgeportThe bowling team traveled to St. Clair Lanes to take on the Bridgeport Bulldogs on Thursday, December 15. The varsity boys’ were victorious with a final score of 1789-1204, bowling with only four. The girls’ team defeated the Bulldogs 1473-1230. Junior High Girls Beat Buckeye LocalOn Thursday, December 15, the 7th and 8th grade girls’ basketball teams played the Buckeye Local Panthers. The 7th grade team beat the Panthers 15-13. The 8th grade team followed and beat the Panthers 30-11. Good job to both teams! - Maddy Bender Math Classes Complete Christmas Assignments Senior Math Students colored ugly Christmas sweaters after solving trigonometry problems to solve the color code. Geometry students made quadrilateral Christmas cards, and some will be shared with residents at Gables Care Center. Science Classes Get in the Christmas SpiritMrs. Taylor’s science classes have been doing various activities over the past week to get in the holiday spirit.
