Huskies Talk Issue 3

  

Football Destroys Union Local

  
 

 
  

On Friday, September 8, the Huskies put on quite a show as they welcomed the Union Local Jets to our home field. During the game, Mykel Quito, in particular, had an outstanding performance with 8 carries, gaining an impressive 77 yards and scoring 2 touchdowns. The final score stood at 49-6, clearly indicating the dominance of the Huskies throughout the game.

Girls’ Soccer Defeated at Carrollton

  
 

 
  

On Saturday, September 9th, the girls’ soccer team traveled to Carrollton. The game ended in a loss for the Huskies, 5-1. The Huskies were led by Angi Ferri with one goal and Lily Gibbons with one assist.

Cross Country at Buckeye 8 Championship

  
 

 
  

On Saturday, September 9, the cross country team went to Cambridge for the Buckeye 8 Championship. The top varsity runners were Tyler Garbrant who placed 28th and Gretchen Dulkoski who placed 34th. The top junior high runners were Bryce Sobleski who placed 14th and Aubrie Moss who placed 8th.

 Junior High Volleyball Defeats Harding

  
 

 
  The junior high volleyball team hosted Harding on Saturday, September 9. Both the 7th and 8th grade teams ended the day with victories. The 7th grade won 2-0, while the 8th grade won 2-1.  
  

Golf Hosts Barnesville

  
 

 
  

On Monday, September 11, the golf team took on the Barnesville Shamrocks. They lost 173-199. Noah Roberts scored 35, Heath Clay scored 50, Kaily Baral scored 51, and Chace Byers scored 63.

Volleyball at St. Clairsville

  
 

 
  

On Monday, September 11, the junior varsity and varsity volleyball teams traveled to St. Clairsville. The junior varsity fell 2-1, while the varsity team fell 3-0. The Huskies were led by Lauren Doane with 9 kills, Nessa Culver with 13 digs, Kennedy Dunlap with 11 digs, AnnMarie Corder with 8 digs, and Kara Blackburn with 7 digs.

Junior High Volleyball Defeats St. Clairsville

  
 

 
  The junior high volleyball team hosted St. Clairsville on Monday, September 11. The 7th and 8th grade teams were both victorious on the night, winning 2-0.  
  

Boys’ Soccer Home vs. St. Clairsville

  
 

 
  

On Tuesday, September 12, the boys’ soccer team hosted St. Clairsville for a Buckeye 8 matchup. The game was one sided with St. Clairsville winning 6-0.

Junior High Volleyball Defeats Bellaire

  
 

 
  

On Tuesday, September 12, the 7th and 8th grade volleyball teams took on Bellaire. Both teams played outstanding, with both 7th and 8th grade winning their sets 2-0.

Girls’ Soccer Ties Madonna

  
 

 
  

On Tuesday, September 12, the girls’ soccer team traveled to Weirton Madonna. The game ended with a tie of three for each team. The Huskies were led by Lily Gibbons with two goals and one assist and Angi Ferri with one goal and two assists.

Golf OVAC Tournament

  
 

 
  The golf team participated in the OVAC Tournament at Speidel Golf Course. The boys played on Tuesday, September 12, where Nash Roberts shot an 86 and received All-OVAC via a 5th place finish. Kaily Banal played on Wednesday, September 13, shooting a 79 and receiving All-OVAC via a 3rd place finish.  
  

Cross Country Attends Brooke Invite

  
 

 
  On Wednesday, September 13, the cross country team traveled to Brooke to participate in their invite. The high school team was led by: Tyler Garbrandt and Gretchin Dulkoski, who both finished 31st. The junior high team was led by: Bryce Sobleski, finishing 24th, and Aubrie Moss, finishing 13th.  
  

Volleyball Defeated by Steubenville

  
 

 
  

On Wednesday, September 13, the junior varsity and varsity volleyball teams traveled to Steubenville. The junior varsity team played two sets and lost both. The varsity team went into four sets, winning the first 25-18, and losing the next three, 25-11, 25-17, and 25-10. The Huskies were led by Lauren Doane with 10 kills and 7 digs, Madison Zeroski with 6 kills, Kennedy Dunlap with 12 digs, Nessa Culver with 10 digs, and Olivia Tonkovich with 12 assists.

Girls’ Soccer Falls to Steubenville

  
 

 
   The girls’ soccer team hosted Steubenville on Wednesday, September 13. Unfortunately, the Huskies were defeated 6-2. The two goals were scored by Angi Ferri and Lily Gibbons.  
  

Volleyball Splits with Bellaire

  
 

 
  

The volleyball team hosted Bellaire on Thursday, September 14. The junior varsity were victorious, winning 2-1. The varsity lost 3 to 1. First set, they were defeated 25-17, the second set they won 25-17, the third set they lost 25-23, and the fourth set they were defeated 25-21. The Huskies were led by: Lauren Doane with 8 kills and 6 blocks, Kennedy Dunlap with 7 kills and 11 digs, Maddie Sedgmer with 5 kills, Nessa Culver with 17 digs, Olivia Tonkovich with 21 assists and 13 digs, and Taylor Nemeth had 8 digs.

Golf Defeats Indian Creek and Steubenville Central

  
 

 
  The golf team traveled to Steubenville to take on Indian Creek and Steubenville Central on Thursday, September 14. The Huskies were victorious, scoring 178. They were led by Heath Clay with a 40, Nash Roberts with a 44, Ocean Rogers with a 46, and Kaily Banal with a 48.  
  

7th Grade Reading

  
  
  Mrs. McHugh’s 7th grade reading class created a visual poster that combined school spirit and a literature based theme they studied in class.

  Max Snyder can be seen showing his class his STEM project. Students were challenged to create something using number two pencils. Max created his own catapult and demonstrated it’s use with marshmallows! How awesome!
