Huskies Talk Issue 9

  

Football Brings Home V.A.L.E.S. Trophy

  
 

 
  

On Friday, October 20, the football team played at Buckeye Local, to earn back the V.A.L.E.S trophy. The Huskies were victorious, 49-7, bringing the trophy back home. Of the seven touchdowns scored by the Huskies, Cameron McAfee had 3, Mykel Quito had 2, and Parker Hutton and Beau Rinkes each had 1.

Cross Country Districts

  
 

 
  

On Saturday, October 21, the cross country team traveled to Cambridge for the District Meet. The boys’ team consisted of: Tyler Garbrant ran a 20:29.43, Aiden Hays ran a 21:16.85, and Bryce Wallace ran a 21:56.32. The girls runners were: Gretchin Dulkoski who ran a 25:55.32, Jewelene Cunningham ran a 29:36.88, and Lillian Renner ran a 30:52.02. This wraps up the cross country season.

Music Department Holds Pops Concert

  
 

 
  

The music department held their pops concert on Sunday October 22. The evening consisted of performances from Bella Voce, Stage Band, Bel Canto, Marching Band, and Select Choir. Thanks to the music directors, Mrs. Angela Zalenski and Mr. Eric Zalenski, the performance was a hit!

Ohio Supreme Court

  
 

 
  

On Wednesday, October 25, junior and senior students attended the Ohio Supreme Court site visit at Buckeye Local High School. Students heard about two cases, where they had the opportunity to ask questions to the case attorney’s. This was a wonderful experience for our students and we thank Buckeye Local for the invitation!

The 7 Mindsets are a comprehensive blueprint for happiness, intentionality and success, written in simple, powerful language to teach and activate success strategies for people to live the lives of their dreams. This month of October, we are focusing on being connected. Take initiative this month to talk to someone new, show support for others, and make our school more inclusive.

  Second grade continued their tradition of making pumpkins to represent their favorite books! Here are some awesome pumpkins!  
 

 
  

Essay Winner!

  
  Congratulations to Phoebe Beetham for being the essay contest winner this year. Phoebe wrote an essay about what she learned on the field trip we took to Zitko Farms. We are so proud of Phoebe!  
 

 
  

5th Grade Field Trip!

  
  Fifth grade students took a trip to the Kent State Tuscarawas branch Performing Arts Center to see Pinnochio!  
 

 
  

3D Projects!

  
  7th grade students, Neely Ryder, Ella Smith, Aubrey Coffman, and Aiden Hensley, helped 4th graders create 3D projects. Their current focus is technology and the design process so this collaborative activity was perfect. Students created and designed projects like a football, barn, pumpkin, fish, and many more! We can’t wait to see the finished project.  
 

 
  

Butterfly Release!

  
  Fourth graders have been learning about butterflies and their life cycle. Friday, they released their butterflies!  
 

 
  

Playoff Well Wishes!

  
  On Friday, all elementary students lined the halls to wish Coach Hayes and the Huskies good luck at the first home playoff game in school history!  
 

 
  

Kindergarten Field Trip!

  
  Kindergarten got to go on a field trip to Schumacher Farms in West Lafayette. Students took a hay ride to a pumpkin patch, picked out their own pumpkin, learned about the planting and growth process of pumpkins, and enjoyed fun play areas on the farm!
