INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC DEPARTMENT
We believe that there is not just one kind of band student. So we have designed our band program to have something for everyone. We have many class offerings and all are constructed with various levels of participation and performance expectations in mind.
Concert Band: directed by Mrs. Zalenski and Mr. Zalenski
A group for all 7th grade band members that want to continue their musical development with basic skills and musical experiences. This group also contains high school band members that desire to learn an instrument for the first time, return to an instrument they have played previously or learn a new instrument in addition to the one they currently play. This group performs 2-3 concerts per year. An audition is not required for this ensemble.

Jazz Band: directed by Mr. Zalenski
A group for all high school band members that want to develop a firm understanding of the basic principles of jazz regarding style, harmony, structure and improvisation. The instrumentation for this ensemble is very specific and includes electric guitar and electric bass guitar. This group performs 3-4 times per year. Director approval must be granted before entry into this ensemble.

Marching Band: directed by Mrs. Zalenski; assisted by Mr. Zalenski
A group for all high school band members, grades 8-12, that want to continue their musical development while expanding their skill set to include corps-style marching and the memorization of music and drill. Students in this ensemble perform multiple times per year including performances at football games, soccer games, Veteran's Day programs, numerous parades and many other events. The Marching Band is a prerequisite to both the Symphonic Band and the Wind Ensemble.
